We and several friends stayed here 2 nights, and we held our wedding breakfast and evening do here. All rooms clean and comfortable, ours (room 1) spacious and elegant with a lovely view. Friendly helpful housekeeping staff. Staff went the extra mile and beyond to ensure we had a great wedding! What started off as an informal lunch morphed as we got into it into canapes, lunch and evening cabaret for 68 and they didn't turn a hair. It's family run and service was personal, engaged, interested and good humoured throughout. The Laura Knight suite and adjoining rooms were elegant with amazing views and access to outside, and we had our own private bar. Our guests all said the food was delicious, fresh, hot and portions were generous. Hotel worked well too with our florist and cake maker. Room 1 was pretty and elegant with an amazing view,. Our guests were all happy with their rooms too, front and back. Lots of stairs in a listed building so perhaps not for those with walking difficulties. Some floors sloping and creaky - again, it's a historic building so we liked that as it's part of the atmosphere. Plenty of cupboard space, good shower, radiators we could adjust and windows we could open, king size bed - mattress perhaps a touch firm. Some paintwork etc a bit shabby but for a historic 3 star hotel in an exposed position it punches above its weight. Historic town, beautiful country walks, choice of varied and sometimes excellent restaurants and theatres Malvern is famous for its steep hills but that said, most town attractions are within 5-10 minutes walk. Within this hotel there are lots of stairs. Neither the town or the hotel are ideal for the disabled although for our reception purposes there was level access from the car park and to the gents. The ladies' loo is on the same level if you go outside and in again, otherwise 4 stairs inside. The restaurant has generous freshly cooked local produce with a varied menu and we have eaten there several times. Cooked breakfast huge and delicious - cold breakfast buffet perhaps needs a few more choices. For our wedding we had hot and cold canapes, all delicious and quite filling, and a choice of starters and mains desserts to be decided in advance. All 3 courses arrived on time, served to the right people, freshly cooked and hot. Great quality sea bass, beef blade or baked squash were all highly praised, as were the sticky toffee pudding and the mousse. Our evening buffet was again very generous and they were happy for us to bring in take away cartons so nothing was wasted. Special mention for the care taken to accommodate our vegan friends and a guest with very specific dietary needs who said she had never felt more listened to - she normally brings her own food to such functions but they wouldn't hear of it and worked hard to adapt our menu for her needs. Every member of the team soon felt like old friends, and we knew we were in safe hands from very early on. Great views, romantic, friendly, historic, good value.
