I took two nights when I was in the area visiting, and unfortunately I attended the hotel the day after I had to attend A+E, so I was in crutches when I checked in. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had access to the ice I needed to treat my tendonitis and make me feel welcome, worked with me to make sure I had a lovely cool room in the middle of the heatwave (the South lodge that has little balconies facing the river was AMAZING both for views and for keeping the room cool - I would estimate it at least 3+ degrees cooler than the new-build apartment I'd been staying in) and were incredibly pleasant to interact with. Special thanks to the night staff front desk staff who went to the bar to get ice for me that night and lent me an extra bucket you have no idea what a difference that made - I was off the crutches by the day after I left! Incredibly affordable if you know how to shop around (right now the spa and pool are under renovations so there was cheaper availability) and the staff were angelic. The rooms were definitely a few years since modernization (I understand this is ongoing eg the carpets I suspect will be replaced soon) but they were perfectly functional and clean and very spacious; tub was modern, well maintained and big enough to enjoy several soaks in. The view overlooking the river and direction means that it's perfect to wake up to and take a little bit of sunbathing before it gets too hot. I also took a meal at their restaurant; very posh and delicious fish and chips (accordingly priced around 20 quid) and the staff member seemed endearingly eager to help, lovely lad. You can take it out on their balcony under a parasol and watch the river go by in the lovely winds, breathtaking and refreshing. Close enough to supermarkets etc that I could walk there myself even on crutches. I didn't risk the nature walks etc but I still adored my time there, and send my commendations to the staff and their management. Thanks for the wonderful time!

“Fantastic ad-hoc visit”

Made an ad-hoc stop for dinner with no expectations. On arrival the hotel seems pretty standard but as you enter it has a really nice and modern aesthetic. Made an ad-hoc stop for dinner with no expectations. On arrival the hotel seems pretty standard but as you enter it has a really nice and modern aesthetic. We were greeted and served throughout the evening by a wonderful young lady named Meg. Every interaction was met with a smile and nothing too much trouble! We ordered some warm breads with oil as we waited for our mains. To follow we had 1 x sausage and mash and 1 x Ham, egg and chips. The ham was absolutely delicious, served with an incredibly moorish relish; thick tomato ketchup but with an almost Indian secondary flavour sooo good!! To follow we had some vanilla panna cotta that again was indulgent as it was delicious! I had my dog with me and Meg treated him like an equal to us which was so cute and special. She even suggested the puppy ice cream which Rupert absolutely devoured!! Will definitely return especially as we hear there's lots of renovations happening!

We spent a very pleasant night here for our anniversary. The setting is beautiful very calm and scenic. The main reception and dining areas have all been refurbished well with seating outside available. There is still some renovations being carried out , our room was pleasant but quite basic. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful , although it seemed some young staff weren't aware of special offers on drinks and we were nearly heavily overcharged for our G&T's. The food was well cooked and presented BUT there seems to have been some poor communication around evening meals! We were asked in advance to book a time to eat, which we did for 7.15pm , this was confirmed on our arrival at reception. However after we sat at our table service seemed quite slow so we asked about ordering our choices from the menu, to be informed that no food would be served before 8pm. After a brief conversation about our booking the young serving lady took our order and assured us that she would put it through to the chef to be served as soon as possible. This seems poor from a breakdown in communication between management and staff.
