This is a really good budget, very well managed, family owned hotel. The owners are very nice, hard-working people. I stayed in a single occupancy, large double room (21) for five nights (Sunday to Friday in late September). My check-in was smooth, efficient and business-like. Number 21 was a clean, good sized double room with a smart TV, plenty of tea and coffee, a kettle, a fridge, a writing desk/dressing table and chair. There is plenty of storage space: two large bedside tables, a large wardrobe and a small chest of draws. There is a double electric socket right next to the bed and the bedside table. The en-suite is basic, but a good size and very functional. A ‘clean my room/do not disturb’ sign is provided. The breakfast- a real plus- was scarily early (0700-0845; last orders for cooked breakfast at 0830). The breakfast room is bright, very clean and pleasant. The kitchen is very clean, open and clearly visible from the dining room-always a positive. The breakfast included a choice of cereals, orange juice, large pot of tea (coffee also available) and an English breakfast: sausage, two eggs, bacon and beans. Toast, butter and jam was also provided. The WiFi in my room was sadly reminiscent of Donald Tru*mp: ineffective, slow and struggling to cope, but it did work (unlike Donald). I thought this place was very good value for money. To quote a cliche, “You get what you pay for”, but this place manages to offer more than that. Highly recommended for the experienced, realistic and discerning budget traveller. TOP TIPS: (1) You will need to bring shampoo; (2) the shower water temperature can reach boiling point: as in all hotels, test & be careful before use.

This hotel was simple to find with ample parking. I was upgraded after a small problem with my room, no fuss just an instant decision. The room was clean, tired looking but comfortable enough. Breakfast was lovely, the main man name unknown, was polite and accommodating, and clearly works very hard. For the money I paid my experience was very good indeed. I would return again and would recommend.
