We have stayed a few times at HH over the years, and as such, have experienced a few rooms and room categories. There is not a bad one. The main difference will primarily be the size and the views. As we are getting older, we tend to enjoy larger rooms, with better views, so why not. The style is perfectly described on their web site. It as a lovely, small country house, set in marvellous gardens and boasting great water views, with a nice Michelin starred restaurant. Service is perfect at all times, from check-in to the bar, to the restaurant to housekeeping. Everything feels seamless. This is the gateway to lovely sightseeing withing a reasonable drive. I can’t think of anyway it could disappoint.

The hotel is in a marvellous position. Beautiful views from the restaurant and lounge. The rooms are very old fashioned except for three rooms the shower is over the bath. nearly all rooms only have one small sink. The rooms are also quite dark. . The hotel is in a marvellous position. Beautiful views from the restaurant and lounge. The rooms are very old fashioned except for three rooms the shower is over the bath. nearly all rooms only have one small sink. The rooms are also quite dark. . We had friends join us in the bar for a lunch snack. 6 of us, 3 sandwich one cheese plate and two small fish dish with 3 drinks and 2 teas came to £259. Extras like mint tea at £23 for two is just over priced. The evening meal was excellent food just right. My comment is with food this good I expect when the various courses are served the waiter gives a proper description of the dish. This happened only once, the other times we had to ask. A GREAT disapiontment to a good meal. The staff in the restaurant we found difident slightly snooty.Would I go back possibly not.

The location of this hotel is stunning, however staying here on one of the hottest weekends of the year with a small fan in the room and tepid bottles of water was very poor . The room did not offer tea and coffee making facilities nor a fridge..standard in most hotels. Instead we had to ask for this to be brought up with the turn down service. The table in the room was cheap mdf covered by gingham curtains ..very basic for a lakeside view room. The chairs in the room had seen better days and need replacing. The bathroom was quite basic without a fan. Overall the hotel seemed under staffed with only one bar person serving over 30 plus guests. The gourmet menu was average with very little flavour and the wine pairing was poor. Such a shame with the beautiful location ....
