very good stay, excellent staff, excellent room, excellent service, excellent meals and a lovely quiet and very clean room. Would strongly recommend and we will soon be back.

An absolutely lovely hotel, great historic building with lots of original features. The staff were really professional & friendly. Food was really good (and lots of it sourced locally from their own farm)! Would throughly recommend this hotel. Pershore is a very attractive Georgian town.

After a nights stay and dinner at The Angel I received an email stating “We hope you enjoyed your time spent with us, and that every aspect of your stay exceeded your expectations. “ As you asked then I have to say no, I was not overly impressed with the trip. It was indeed below my expectation level given the 5 stars on the front door plaque. Check in, nice enough, room available long before stated time slot but no offer the help with bags etc. Shown to room, very nice and spacious but obviously reflected in the higher room rate. Bed, sofa, armchairs, wardrobes and dressers. Bed had very thin mattress, one could feel the boards underneath. TV mounted high up in a corner. Bay window onto High St, and, as its an old building, no double glazing or any attempt to muffle road noise, woken at 5am by traffic. Curtains in bay did not fully block out even street lights so in high summer would really be a pain. Bathrobes in wardrobe but no slippers. Tea tray, usual mixture, 1 and a half biscuits, a reusable bottle of tap water! and a coffee pod machine with an excessive 4 pods of 3 varieties. So, had it been 6 pods, 2 of each type say, then both of us could have at least tried them all. Cheap. Mentioned when I booked online that it was a birthday treat for my partner, she did get a happy birthday greeting at reception but nothing else. No flower on the bed, chocolate on the pillow, no note from management or such. Simple tiny touches which would have conveyed real attention to a clients experience. Bathroom, very large, over bath shower, towels etc and windows, with secondary double glazing. Two sinks with mirrors over which refused to stay put though. Dining. Expected great things. 4 stars on door plaque. There seemed a lot eating there, and at lunch time as well, though maybe there are few eateries in Pershore to choose from? After some searching I was eventually found on their list. Seated in a quite dark area, looked around to move but nothing suitable. Nothing fancied from starters so straight to mains. Odd presentation of lamb, mash and veg, served in a soup dish or bowl. Not one of these large wide rimmed bowls of modern times but a regular type. As for taste, well, even salt and pepper did little to elevate it. Food seemed to have been dropped into the bowl, no attempt at presentation, would not have made the Masterchef skill test. Asked if wanted dessert, I asked for a menu!, and was then quizzed as to the type of booking I was on which I thought odd half way through our meal. The apple crumble, in the same style of bowl, was forgettable, though was told that the custard jug, (straight out of the microwave?) was hot. As stated, there were plenty of other diners, the place even has private dining rooms one of which was in use so either there are no other places to eat in this town or it was my bad luck to get what I got. It was not what I expected though which is all that matters. So, would I recommend the Angel?, unlikely based on this visit.
