Solo lunch. Very pleasant helpful bar staff. Toasted Brie& chilli sandwich which came with salad & fries. V generous portion!

Firstly to find the hotel car park is awful we were circling around Peterborough trying to find the car park it took us so long we had to call the hotel, finally they gave told is where to go but without that we would’ve been lost. Later on I found it on the website but it should be pointed out a bit more and say when buying the room where the car park is. The decor around the entrance and lobby and the pub feels very luxurious and done up feels very European. However I felt this was misleading... there was no elevator upstairs so it was a long and steep walk up to the rooms. The steps and the hallways felt very basic and dimly lit, not the same feeling as the lobby. The executive sweets were quite nice but felt like a basic hotel room and expected a bit more with the name (executive). The family room which I stayed in felt very out of date with the room not looking very nice with the walls, ceiling and curtains dirty. However the bathroom was nice, but the family rooms need a MAJOR makeover. Later in the evening I tried the pub food, to be honest for the price I expected a bit more than what I received. The food looked and tasted like basic pub food you could get anywhere and does not justify the price. The chicken took atleast 10 minutes longer than the other 4 mains so we were halfway done eating before the other main arrived, which ruined the experience a bit. The waiter or waitress could've let know it was going to be a delay as we had to call a waiter to ask about the chicken. In a professional establishment all food ordered together should come out together. The bed in the family room was nice and comfy. In the morning I had breakfast which was nothing special but it was nice, lots of choice of pastries and cold food and then the warm food was a full English. Overall the experience wasn’t too bad but a few complaints.

Disappointing. We arrived on an absolutely frigid day at midday and asked if we could check in. We were told no and that check in was not till 2pm. I learned later that the occupancy was light so I am sure they could have managed. When we did check in some assistance with baggage could have veen offered as there are no lifts. The public areas are lovely and characterful. The room we had booked was an above basic selection, nothing wrong with the room and it was well appointed however there was no drinking water, limited amenities, and compared to the rest of the hotel (lovely/characterful) it was clinical and without soul. Breakfast was poor, food was cold and had clearly been "held" in the kitchen. Limited offerings in terms of bread, local produce teas and coffee etc with offhand service. There was no recognition of loyalty. All in all I had hoped for a little better. Much could be achieved for very little cost, a little personalisation and some enthusiasm from the breakfast staff.
