First Impressions As with picking up any book, you start with the cover and wonder what lies inside. On arrival at the Moorland Hotel, first impressions might be uncertain, but stepping through the entrance quickly dispelled any hesitation. We were immediately welcomed by a friendly face and a warm greeting, which set a positive tone for our stay. Accommodation Upon heading up to our room, we found the accommodation to be somewhat dated, but it was clean and presentable, with even the bathroom kept in good order. The views stretching over the moors towards Plymouth were particularly impressive and made the room’s modesty more than worthwhile. Dining Experience Our evening meal offered a well-chosen selection of classic pub dishes at very reasonable prices. The starters gave us a taste of the quality to come, and the main courses did not disappoint. The meals were of a high standard, and a good pint of bitter complemented the food. Everything was fresh and well-prepared, making for an enjoyable dining experience. Comfort and Sleep The bed proved to be just right, ensuring that everyone had a restful night’s sleep. This aspect of the stay was much appreciated. Breakfast After the positive experience of the evening meal, I was looking forward to breakfast. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. It was clear, even to other guests, that a different chef was on duty in the morning, as they laughed at my observation. The breakfast was a let-down compared to the dinner. Feedback and Hopes for Improvement I have shared my thoughts with the hotel, hopeful that such feedback will encourage improvements in the future. Final Thoughts Despite the minor disappointment at breakfast, we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at the Moorland Hotel. We look forward to returning to see how the hotel continues to develop and improve. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

“Good value for money”

Fantastic views,up onto the moors and down the hill to plymouth in the distance.Room clean although window dirty spoiling view. Fantastic views,up onto the moors and down the hill to plymouth in the distance.Room clean although window dirty spoiling view. Decor dated and showing it, restaurant food was good and although I didn't have the evening meal (curry night) everyone was raving about how good it was. Excellent value for money. Very helpful staff who sorted out a problem for me straight away.

“Buy a gift stay”

We had a very pleasant stay . The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was very good . The hotel itself however is in desperate need of a serious refurb .

“Tired hotel but great food and a good price.”

Hotel in good location, but definitely in need of a lot of TLC - it's very tired. This is reflected in the price, which was very reasonable. Service good though and the food was excellent so overall we had a good stay.
