We needed a 1 night last minute stay for a family event & we booked this with little/no research before hand. We got there quite late at night & the check in was very quick and efficient. Our room was spacious and clean but it was cold, I appreciate it was January but there was only one radiator on in the bathroom despite a bigger radiator on in the main bedroom. The shower facilities were ok.. mini soaps, shampoo and conditioners were appreciated but the shower head wasn’t as powerful as hoped. Despite a few niggles, the bed itself was so comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic. We would stay here again for the price we paid.

“Average Stay”

Room in the attic, small and compact, long way up the stairs! Cold room, wind coming through the window. Nice towels and toiletries, sloping roof difficult when showering. Room in the attic, small and compact, long way up the stairs! Cold room, wind coming through the window. Nice towels and toiletries, sloping roof difficult when showering. Breakfast average, they forgot us, so took ages to finally get anything. Staff pleasant but not overly friendly. Reported bedside light didn't work when we left & they weren't bothered at all, we were just advising, not complaining! We got parked on the drive, but there were plenty in the road with a free permit. 15 minutes to the theatre, plenty of places to eat/drink around.

“Noisy hotel, minimal sleep, exhausting stay”

I stayed for one night and had the room at the front next to the reception called 'Glorious' with a jacuzzi bath. I had a terrible nights sleep as sound proofing there is non existent. Between 1am and 7am I got woken up four or five times with other guests coming in drunk or chatting in the hall, staff coming in and out and people crashing around. I almost missed my train in the morning I was so tired from the lack of sleep and being woken up so many times. I was exhausted all day the next day. The room was also very cold even with the small electric radiator on for the night - there was no central heating in the room. Breakfast was a rushed scrambled eggs on toast and coffee. I almost couldn't go and eat breakfast as I was running late from the lack of sleep. There was no non dairy milk. The food was tasty and delivered quickly. Location was good for me and the cleanliness was ok. There was a stain on the bedding which should have been clean. Quirky and unique decor is a plus point. The value is okay, would have been worth it if I had a good nights sleep. Although the room was pleasant, the jacuzzi was lovely and the breakfast was nice, I would not stay by reception ever again and not sure if I would recommend this hotel as I don't know if the other rooms suffer from the same issue of the noise. I don't know how anyone gets any sleep in that front ground floor room.
