This was our second visit to this lovely old hotel within a 5 minute walk of the Cathedral and the centre. We were last there in October 2025 and I did put a review on but on the wrong Rose and Crown site. Our stay in October was excellent in all areas from reception to meals and the rooms. This visit was the same. Reception was very quick and welcoming the room was spacous warm. The bathroom was very clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We were there on a two night break. The only disappoitnmernt was on the Sunday evening two of the starters and one of the main meal optins were no longer available and this did limit our choice. That said the meals we did have were excellent and did not spoil this break. The second night there was no problem with the choice and again the meals were excellent. The staff are all very helpful - nothing is too much trouble and any issues like the choices for meals on the first night was very well explained with apologies. The weather was not great with a lot of rain and the adjacent river was well in flood but did not cause any issues to the stay. Our stay included a packed meal on a day of our choice and these pack ups were of excellent quality witrh sandwiches a drink fruit a yogurt and a pack of biscuits. A lovely touch . We are thinking of revisitin in the Spring. I would happily recpommend this hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We absolutely love staying at the Rose and Crown Hotel it’s a fantastic place to visit and truly one of the real gems of Salisbury. The staff are such a huge asset to the hotel, especially Maisie, Dani and Simone. They are always so approachable, warm and welcoming, and they consistently provide the very best service. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they go above and beyond to make every visit special. Their professionalism combined with genuine friendliness makes all the difference. The hotel itself has such a wonderful atmosphere, view of the cathedral’, beautiful garden, and hosting little events seasonal pop-up plays in the Cathedral Suite is always such a pleasure. It’s experiences like these that make the Rose and Crown feel so special, and community focused. We can’t wait to come back and celebrate with you again soon. Thank you for always being so accommodating and for making every stay such a memorable one!

“Won't stay again, but some nice bit.”

We booked a junior suite, there was a bad smell when we walked into the room,the room was also dirty with lots of dust.we were then give a suite, but that was dirty as well,in the morning I found mold on the net curtains, I wouldn't have stayed if I had see this the night before. The view was lovely as on the river,the breakfast was really nice.I had some contact with the general manager by email I found his manor rude.

“Good but with niggles”

Let me start by saying that we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were lucky enough to get a river view room on the 1st floor (which was handy considering how high the river was after weeks of heavy rain!), and it was great having the view of the river, water meadows and the cathedral. The room was a very good size and had a nice feel to it. However, sadly some things let our experience down. The bathroom needed some tlc, the shower taps were loose, and did not give a good impression of a well kept hotel. Also our neighbours across the hall complained of having no hot water (I also heard someone else at reception also complaining of this), which really is unacceptable. Breakfast was good, but there were delays with refilling, so if you did not time it correctly, you were left waiting for fresh sausages (as an example) to be re-stocked, which the rest of your plate got cold. If timed well, the breakfast was delicious! Coffee was not the hottest either. I don't recommend the restaurant for dinner, we were all under-whelmed with our meals. Also they got the bill wrong at the end. Sadly the worst part of our stay here was that we have been charged twice! One payment was made via contactless card and they took another payment using our stored details. We have contacted them about this, and still trying to get a resolution. To me, this should have been instant, done over the phone....an apology, maybe a goodwill gesture, and instant refund. But they are currently 'reviewing the accounts'. £300 is quite a lot of money to be taken twice. Shame.
