“Exceptional value for money for a short stay but make sure you don’t get parking fine ! We will never return !”

Whilst the staff, service and restaurant were outstanding, the lack of cleanliness let the hotel down ! When we returned home got. £100 parking fine for using the hotel car park ! Beware !

Holiday Inn Rotherham-Sheffield M1, Jct.33 Date of stay: 12–13 April 2026 Room: 217 As a loyal IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) guest for over 20 years — historically staying around 70–100 nights per year, and now around 30–40 nights per year post-Covid — I feel I know the brand well. This stay at Holiday Inn Rotherham-Sheffield M1, Jct.33 had many of the qualities I expect from IHG: a warm welcome, clean rooms, good food, and professional service. Unfortunately, the room location meant sleep quality was affected, which did take the edge off an otherwise positive stay. Arrival & Check-In • The hotel was easy to find using sat nav and postcode, making for a smooth, stress-free journey. • Parking was straightforward, with a large car park surrounding the hotel. • The hotel is located around 8 miles outside Sheffield city centre, to the north-east, and is only around 3–4 miles from Meadowhall Shopping Centre, which makes it convenient for shopping and local access. • Check-in was quick and welcoming, and the reception team made an excellent first impression. • As a Priority Club member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the choice of bonus points or a complimentary drink — a small touch, but always appreciated. Room & Cleanliness • The room was spotlessly clean, well presented, and in good condition — fully in line with the standards I would expect from IHG. • Fixtures, fittings and linens were fresh and well maintained. See attached photos. • Unfortunately, the room overlooked the external air conditioning units serving the hotel. The constant whirring from these units continued through the night and did affect my sleep quite significantly. Dining • The evening menu offered the familiar Holiday Inn range, including pizzas, burgers, pies, fries, steak and similar options, with enough variety to suit most tastes. • There was also an additional Comfort Kitchen menu, including loaded fries and a selection of mini savoury pies. I tried the Duo of Mini Pies, which I really enjoyed. • The open-plan bar and dining area created a relaxed and informal atmosphere. • Breakfast offered a good balance of continental and cooked options. • Freshly prepared eggs were available at no extra charge, which made for an excellent start to the day. Check-Out • Check-out was smooth and efficient, with professional and courteous staff ensuring everything was completed quickly. • I did mention the poor night’s sleep caused by the external air conditioning noise, and this was handled very professionally. A sincere apology was given, and additional IHG points were kindly awarded by the hotel manager, Ms Holly West. • I would also like to thank Lindsay in the breakfast room for her helpfulness and general positivity, which reflected very well on the hotel. Overall This is a comfortable, clean and well-run hotel, with friendly staff, good food and the reliable IHG experience I have come to expect. The only real disappointment was the poor sleep quality caused by the room overlooking the external air conditioning units. Overall, it was a solid stay, and I would be happy to return — although next time I would certainly request a quieter room. With that small but important issue resolved, this hotel could easily move closer to perfection. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ — 3/5
