“Excellent!”

Stayed here as we were visiting Crufts. Had upgraded room and really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room with wonderful views. Stayed here as we were visiting Crufts. Had upgraded room and really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room with wonderful views. We had visitors join us for an evening meal (who were staying elsewhere)…we did have a long wait for food, but the meal was truly fantastic and well worth the wait. Our friends were so impressed with our meal and hearing how lovely the hotel is, that next year they want to stay with us at this hotel. Indeed, we are also tempted to extend our stay next year. The reception staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome and next time I think we will contact the hotel and book with them direct. Highly recommended!

I booked this hotel for my team of 6 people in February 2026. We had bed, breakfast and evening meal. Everything was great - clean, comfy, great food and the staff were so helpful. Unlike many places where staff seem to be just working there as a casual, temporary job, these staff seemed very professional, well-trained and capable. Would certainly book again.

Hogarths present this day as a ‘special’ event unfortunately it did not live up to that billing. There are too many lunch sittings & it should be made clearer before booking that sittings are located in different parts of the hotel. Hogarths present this day as a ‘special’ event unfortunately it did not live up to that billing. There are too many lunch sittings & it should be made clearer before booking that sittings are located in different parts of the hotel. There was a clear difference between those seated in the main restaurant area (which had a much more convivial atmosphere) & those in the William suite at the rear. Had we been informed at the point of booking this was the case we may not have chose to come here. Arrival at the hotel was okay but too much time hanging around in the lobby waiting for someone to check you in , only to find you had to check in again at the entrance to the William Suite. We were taken to our seats and after some time we were offered a glass of Prosecco. This was surprising as the menu noted there was Champagne on arrival. All food orders had been provided in advance. After a 30 minute wait we had to ask for our starters to be served. The table next to us arrived after us but had been served first. We also had to ask for our main courses to be served. The food was no more than average for a Christmas lunch but with burnt roast potatoes & parsnips. I don’t know if the team were instructed to leave long periods between courses but usually the waiters ask if you want a delay between courses . We also had to request the desserts being served. For the number of staff working that day the overall service was poor. There were temporary lounge areas for the day for tea/coffee/mince pies. We would not choose to enjoy Christmas Day here again, there are better options locally at a similar or better price (£149/person).
