Overall a very nice stay, we stayed for 3 nights in room 114 with our Dog in July, during the heatwave (ongoing heatwave) The parking is not near the room so we had bit of a trek with suitcases and bags. The hotel itself is a grand old Building, which we did have a bit of a wander around, but I'm sure there was so much more to see. The room was fine, but there is no Air Con, but there is a desk fan. We really could have done with a fridge to keep our drinks, chocolate biscuits cool. Bathroom had a few broken tiles, but that is not a huge problem, everything else worked, shower never had an issue with running out of hot water. Next to the bed there was some USB sockets, but they would not keep a USB plug in, so used a mains plug adapter. I like that they do their best to keep recyclables separate, just like at home. If you have time use the swimming pool, nice way to kill a hour or 2. Breakfast, was OK, just the sausages and bacon were not to our taste, we asked for poached Eggs, they were brought to our table after a few mins, cooked to perfection. Toaster is the normal conveyor type that manages to brown one side perfectly. Unlimited Buffet so you can start the day off with a belly full if you wish. Overall not bad value at about £140 per night inc Breakfast for 2, parking is free, lovely grounds. We would stay again.

The driveway into the hotel was really nice. There was plenty of parking . The check in with the two young ladies at reception was very poor , they did not explain where anything was , and couldn't seem to answer anything, fortunately Laura was there who intervened and sorted out the issue. She put us in room 209, the other members of staff should learn from Laura!! . The room was really nice , clean, modern and comfortable bed. We had breakfast which was to a very good standard. We recommend this hotel and would use again. But please train your reception staff!!!

We had a lovely stay overall and really appreciated the effort of the staff. Yesterday's team, including the lady manager, were very friendly and welcoming. Although there were a couple of small mistakes with our food orders, everyone was polite and it was clear they were doing their best. Unfortunately, our experience at breakfast today was disappointing. I simply asked if some of the milk from the breakfast buffet could be warmed up for cereal. Instead of a polite explanation, I was told from a distance that they "don't do that". Only after I asked why was I told it was because of "health and safety". I have a background in catering and hospitality, having completed a catering qualification, so I found this explanation confusing. The milk was already being served by the hotel as part of the breakfast buffet. From a food safety perspective, the key issue is ensuring that milk is stored and handled correctly. Simply warming the hotel's own milk for immediate consumption does not, by itself, make it unsafe. If this is the hotel's policy, I completely respect that, but it should be explained as a company policy rather than being presented as a health and safety issue. What made the situation even more confusing was that, after noticing I was unhappy with the response, the manager did warm the milk after all. If it genuinely wasn't allowed for health and safety reasons, I don't understand why it was eventually done only for me not to complaint. I would also like to mention that the fan provided in our room was very dusty. In my opinion, that is a more genuine health and hygiene concern, as guests are breathing in the dust while using it. Regular cleaning of items such as fans should be part of the room maintenance standards. Finally, considering the price we paid, we expected a much higher standard overall. We stayed at a Premier Inn the night before, and despite it being a more budget-friendly hotel, we found the overall standard, cleanliness and value for money to be noticeably better. Apart from these issues, we did enjoy parts of our stay, and I hope this feedback helps improve the customer experience in the future. A polite explanation from the start would have made all the difference.
