Don’t know where to start an unusual experience:- Negative points:- 1. Room - ok - had adjoining rooms with hubby & me in room with double bed & a shower for disabled (which didn’t need but ok). I must say I would like to know how a person in a wheelchair would navigate the room (shower negotiation ok). Daughter & granddaughters in other room with 2 double beds, bath with overhead shower. Doubt I would have got in & out of bath (very high sides). All that aside there were some niggles:- •we had the usual tea/coffee etc but not exactly replaced consistently & where was the water to use to make drinks? •we also had drinking chocolate but only one sachet when 2 people in room. Yes we could have contacted front desk about it & coffee/water issues BUT it should be a given •we were left the complimentary bottles of Prosecco (meant for our daughter) - again should ensure it is provided correctly!•back to our shower room - temperature overall fine & toiletries provided were nice BUT oh the drainage was not so good & floor was slippy even with the provided mats. I also sat on the provided seat for disabled people. It tilts forward so could easily slip off it. 2. Food & drink - well yes it is an hotel but the prices are high (think that may have been why fridges removed from guest rooms - people would be bringing their own drinks in me-thinks). To an extent I can accept the prices of alcoholic beverages BUT £4 for a child’s fruit shoot (having a laugh - hotel must get it at cost price & dearest pub/restaurant prices I’ve come across are £2). • I may be fussy but I also think breakfast was a bit no go. We went down at about 09.30 on the Saturday of daughter’s wedding (& yeah I made an error - should have done my toast first). All plates were cold - I also selected bacon & on eating it was also cold & hard. Mushrooms were hot as was the scrambled egg BUt of course all was cold by time I sat down (see my error re toast above). To top it all the coffee supply was a joke. A big urn of whatever coffee - no machine for e.g. Americano or cappuccino etc. (there may have been sachets - I didn’t check - husbands department for cappuccino & such. It should be noted (to be fair that hubby had a ‘full English’ which he said was fine) •regarding meals also - after our check-in on the Friday my hubby & I considered having a meal in the restaurant BUT we were not really happy with menu choices & that’s prices aside (although previous reviews had also put me off) & so we ate out(most of wedding party opted to do the same & we all went to a local well known chain of pub/restaurants). The cost was about 1/2 that in the hotel for meals & alcoholic beverages) 3. Check-in & check out wasn’t the best experience (some confusion over rooms at check-in & £900+ for two rooms - with nothing special in them I think was extortionate & that was with the discount for wedding guests) especially as one of the lifts was out of order - I know it was a week-end BUT come-on get your act together. In-fact on the morning of check-out my hubby & I packed cases & took everything to car at 7am - so that we could be ready to go. So glad we did. 4. Most of my other issues are to do with the organisation of the wedding. E.g. some guests had special dietary requirements which were provided BUt not labelled as such & so some people who didn’t have such requirements got the food. There were other issues regarding all this but some wasn’t fault of staff (although their communication could have been better). Conclusion it was a stressful time for us & daughter - organising stuff & so I am aware I may have been hyper-critical. But overall the prices & such are rather OTT even with any special offers Positives:- Every member of staff my hubby & I had dealings with were very pleasant & professional. I especially want to praise the young man (from Liverpool) whose name I didn’t get when I rang the hotel at daft o’clock in the morning panicking about some detail. He was brilliant & put my mind at rest. Rooms are generally clean & maintained & for the most part modern

“Pleasant stay”

Stayed for 3 nites in the middle of the heatwave, but surprisingly the hotel was nice and cool, and the rooms were cool and had decent Aircon to keep them cooler if required, but we found we didn't need it. We had an upgraded room with a big walk in shower, breakfast was good, but lacked choice in fruit to go with yogurt, had melon only, car park free if you book direct with the hotels, several deals available when I booked a few weeks ago, short few minutes walk to lord street , shopping street and gardens and the marine lake, but mid week in June not a lot open in the parks or on the lake. Southport was a nice surprise for me as the 1st time I've stayed, and would return again.. some nice places to eat on lord street, the grand brasserie was very good

“For by the breakfast and drinks , everything else was fine, the polish girl cleaning the room was very nice and pleasan”

Breakfast was very poor, no corn flakes . Eggs were missing most of the time and didn’t have any soft eggs . The cooked breakfast looked ok but we didn’t want a cooked breakfast

“Poor quality”

Not up to standard used to be ,breakfast only luke warm every dsy.plus kept running out ot items.Also thought evening meal was expensive seing my wife only hsd fish and chips and fish was all batter ,
