Alveston Manor is a beautiful Hotel. The rooms are very good and the rooms in the original building are breathtaking. The hotel has a quiet restful atmosphere you would never believe you were on a main road,the staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. The housekeeping is excellent, the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town centre and there is parking which is an added bonus. This was our second visit to this hotel and we will be returning because it is such a good situation for sightseeing in the surrounding area, all in all a gem

“Ups and downs”

Although my wife submitted a review based upon Elizabeth.. I will say that the reception and bar staff are aloof and unhelpful.. this saddens us as we would have loved to recommend this hotel.

When you arrive at this establishment, you are over whelmed by the overall look of the building and excited to experience what is inside unfortunately this is where the excitement ends first off. They do not include car parking in the already high price of the room so an additional £7 per day was added to our bill. We were put in the room further away from the reception which took about 15 minutes to walk to we didn’t mind that we in the new building but when we got into the room for the price that we are being charged, we were sorely disappointed. The furniture is damagedand broken in places. The bathroom is dated and needs severe updating and the whole room was just lacking. It was clean. that is a positive. But it was just underwhelming and in a way we felt a little bit scammed with the price at nearly £200 a night for an executive king or Dulux king as they call it I would expected a lot more. The bar area are small but quaint and as it is located in the old style building it isvery aesthetically pleasing but the furniture is haggard and ripped in places. I don’t know if this is because it welcomes pets that this is the reason that these not been replaced but overall again lacking. Breakfast terrible!! Sitting down in an establishment like this I expect to at least be given the option of proper drip coffee not filtered or Instant. The breakfast was continental self serve all the food just looked dreadful. We didn’t even bother staying again for an additional £18 per head in the room rate for our breakfast.We ended up going up the street and having a better quality breakfast and coffee for the equivalent of one person I can see why the say the breakfast is terrible!! Because of this we cancelled our reservation for the restaurant fearing that the quality would be the same. Overall we would never stay here We are regular visitors to Stratford upon Avon and we have stayed in other establishments which are a lot cheaper and provide a better service and better quality of food and rooms. You are definitely paying for the old style and the Tudor aesthetics. Overall very disappointing will not stay again unless major changes and updates are made.
