Bricks construct buildings but people then make them come alive. The staff in the restaurant at The Holiday Inn in Taunton are a wonderful crew. I visit regularly as a walk-in for breakfast and I’ve never been disappointed. Lucinda, Tash and gang always give a great welcome, the buffet food is plentiful and nicely served, always clean and topped up regularly. The restaurant is spacious, you don’t feel on top of other diners, plenty of room, gentle background music or BBC News on the tvs. There’s even a charity book table on hand if you want something to read while eating the great selection of cooked and continental breakfast. A lovely group of staff running a lovely restaurant serving lovely food! Perfect start to any day!

Holiday Inn Taunton M5, Jct.25 Date of stay: 1–2 April 2026 Room: 64 As a loyal IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) guest for over 20 years—historically staying around 70–100 nights per year, and now typically 30–40 post-Covid—I feel I know the brand well. This visit to Holiday Inn Taunton M5, Jct.25 was fully in line with the standards I have come to expect. Arrival & Check-In • The hotel was easy to find using sat nav and postcode, making for a smooth and stress-free journey. • Parking was straightforward, with a large car park directly outside the front entrance. • Check-in was quick and welcoming, and the reception team made an excellent first impression. • As a Priority Club member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the choice of bonus points or a complimentary drink — a small touch, but very much appreciated. Room & Cleanliness • The room was spotlessly clean, well presented, and in good condition — fully in line with IHG standards. • Fixtures, fittings, and linens were fresh and well maintained. • Attached photos support the overall standard of cleanliness and presentation. Dining Experience • Evening meals: The menu offered the familiar Holiday Inn range — pizzas, burgers, pies, fries, steak, and similar options — with enough variety to suit most tastes. The open-plan bar and dining area created a relaxed and informal atmosphere. • I ate in the restaurant on the first night and enjoyed a simple but tasty fish pie. • Breakfast: There was a good balance of continental and cooked options. Freshly prepared eggs were available at no extra charge, which made for an excellent start to the day. The only thing missing, for me, was black pudding. It was not advertised, but I have found it readily available at other Holiday Inn hotels. Check-Out • Check-out was smooth and efficient, with professional and courteous staff ensuring everything was completed quickly. Overall A comfortable, clean, and well-run hotel that delivered the reliable IHG experience I have come to expect. Overall, it was a solid stay and I would be very happy to return — though if black pudding ever makes an appearance at breakfast, it may well achieve perfection. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
