Took my daughter and granddaughter as granddaughter in comp at Telford international centre. What a lovely hotel beautiful setting our room overlooked golf course. Our room was immaculate and cleaned to a very high standard by Gill. Beds big and very comfortable and even the bed for my granddaughter was very comfortable. Lots of little touches complimentary drinks in mini fridge,biscuits, coffee machine, toiletries. We used the pool Which was lovely.we had breakfast and evening meals in the restaurant which had loads of different options and perfect. Every staff member we encountered were very friendly. To sum up a beautiful hotel, lovely stay will definitely be back

It is set in a lovely spot just outside Telford near the Ironbridge. It was nicely decorated and had good facilities. It was only let down by what seemed to be poor management. I was there for a bridge congress and at the time when 150 people roughly would be arriving they had 1 member of staff on reception for registration. This could have been handled so much better by having 2 members of staff or even an online form or a couple of screens in reception. The second let down was the coffee and tea machines, There was 1 coffee machine available for 150 people during the bridge but also at breakfast. At breakfast there was a second machine present but it was turned off! The hot water dispensers for tea were also tricky to use.

“Disappointing Golf Stay”

My son participated in a British Juniors golf competition held at Telford over three days. While I appreciate that no one can control the weather, the temperatures were exceptionally high, reaching over 30°C, and I was very disappointed by the apparent lack of duty of care shown towards the young players. The boys prepared as well as they could by bringing water, but there was no halfway hut open on the course, no water stations available, and no effort from the pro shop to provide additional water or refreshments. Even something as simple as a bucket of water available halfway around the course would have helped. I personally spoke to the pro shop on the first day regarding the lack of water facilities on the course. The response I received was simply, "I'll pass your feedback on." With more than 60 junior golfers competing in temperatures exceeding 30°C, I found this response disappointing. The welfare of young players should have been treated as a priority, particularly given the extreme weather conditions. A simple solution such as opening the halfway hut, providing water stations, or having staff circulate with water would have demonstrated a reasonable level of care and concern. Had a child collapsed due to the extreme heat, I seriously question what provisions were in place to deal with the situation. The clubhouse closing at 4:30 pm was also surprising and disappointing, particularly during a busy junior competition. Food availability was inconsistent, with service only offered at times advised by the hotel rather than the advertised opening hours. Breakfast was adequate, although the quality varied from day to day. Unfortunately, the hotel grounds and outdoor areas appeared neglected. The landscaping was overgrown and untidy, giving the impression that maintenance had been overlooked. The outside bar terrace was particularly disappointing, with damaged panels coming away from the building and the surrounding area looking dirty and overgrown. This is not what I would expect from a 3- or 4-star hotel. On a positive note, the reception team were excellent throughout our stay. They were kind, friendly, professional, and always willing to help. They are a real credit to the hotel and deserve recognition for the service they provided. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The golf course itself may be a popular venue, but during a junior event in extreme temperatures, player welfare should be a priority. Unfortunately, that did not appear to be the case.
