Julia was very welcoming on arrival and remembered the call we had made to her. The room was incredible. Very spacious and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was well appointed. The food was very tasty and we were well looked after by Lynn. The staff's knowledge of the history of the hotel and the surrounding are was outstanding. It was great value for money and we will definitely stay there again.

“Charming hotel - lacking the finer details!”

We fancied a few nights away near to Oxford over the Easter break, so we chose this hotel in the very centre of Thame, with seemingly every amenity on the doorstep, and great links to Oxford. We fancied a few nights away near to Oxford over the Easter break, so we chose this hotel in the very centre of Thame, with seemingly every amenity on the doorstep, and great links to Oxford. As far as the location was concerned, it couldn’t be better. Literally two or three minutes walk to shops, cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants etc. Bus links outside to Oxford. £3. Great! We booked a garden room at this hotel. There were some faults with the room. 1. Ants in the bathroom under the sink. It was an exposed under sink, so the ants were easy to spot. Whilst not a plague, they were certainly present. It didn’t bother us much, others might not be so laid back about it. 2. There was a VERY VERY dim ceiling light in the bathroom, and the light over the bathroom sink, which could have helped with illumination, wasn’t working. Reception said no one was available to fix it. We couldn’t understand why such a simple thing couldn’t be fixed, but there you go. 3. Bathroom again!! There was no rubber mat it the bath if you wanted to take a shower. I did, and took my life in my hands taking a shower. Perhaps reception could resolve this issue (?) but why isn’t there one there. Spread Eagle - this is an accident waiting to happen, and you will be held responsible!! 4. The hotel, in almost every area, is a little worn and tired. 5. No cushions on the outside furniture. (I’ll let this one go, I’m sure guests would probably leave them outside, making a soggy mess if it rains). 6. Lastly, there was an outside light in the garden, but no one knew how to switch it on!!! So, I’ve done a lot of complaining, but you know what, my partner and me were absolutely charmed by the place despite the shortcomings noted. The staff were very friendly indeed and helpful where they could be, The breakfast was very pleasant, and the lady serving it was also very helpful. Location makes this place, as does the staff who are to be commended, and with a bit more care from the owners, it could be an outstanding hotel. So, we’ll done staff, buck your ideas up owners!!! (We would stay again).
