I am one of a group of older ladies who meet at the hotel each month for lunch. Our preordered meals are served promptly and we are looked after very well by the staff. A special mention for Keira and Evelina who are always so pleasant. Thank you.

The setting for this cream tea was absolutely lovely, as we sat out on the terrace right next to some charming rose beds. The service throughout our visit was impeccable; the staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive, ensuring we were never kept waiting. Everything about the presentation felt premium and exceptionally clean, from the traditional china and generous teapots down to the traditional tea cosies and crisp linen napkins. The loose-leaf tea itself was wonderfully flavoursome, and the selection of fruited and plain scones arrived warm, freshly baked, and delicious, paired perfectly with a rich and tasty clotted cream. Unfortunately, the experience was slightly let down by the choice of jam, which was served in small, branded mini-jars similar to what you would find at a hotel breakfast. The jam itself lacked a bit of flavour, and using these commercial pots felt a little out of place for an otherwise lovely experience. Upgrading to a better quality jam served in a proper dish would have easily elevated the afternoon and made it perfect. At £11 per person, it offers very good value for money, and we would certainly recommend this establishment.

We stayed here with family for a weekend break as part of a coach trip. Upon arrival were were greeted by friendly staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant. So all was good on the first evening. At breakfast the next day it took a very long time to get served our tea/coffee, we ended up having to ask as other guests were being seated after us and got served before us. Breakfast when it did arrive was just okay nothing special. At dinner that night the menu hadn't changed much from the night before. One starter, one main and one dessert had changed, the rest of the choice of starters, mains and desserts were exactly the same as the previous night. The food was tasty but we found the pork loin very tough we mentioned this to the waitress who didn't really seem concerened. At breakfast the following day, again the service was slow and again we had to ask for our beverages. This not what i would expect from a 4 star. The house keeping could of been better, the towels were not straighted or refolded, no bleach or cleaning fluid had been left in the toilet and there was still a piece of scrunched up paper left on the window sill which we forgot to throw away. The public areas of the hotel were clean with comfortable seating but over all we were left disappointed and were expecting better from a 4 star! The hotel is in a nice area and within walking distance to the town but i am not sure i would return.
