“Worth a visit”

Have stayed here many times over the years. Always felt settled here . Parking onsite. Some really good staff. Only let down used to be the food so avoided that. Big spacious rooms. Good views. Have stayed here many times over the years. Always felt settled here . Parking onsite. Some really good staff. Only let down used to be the food so avoided that. Big spacious rooms. Good views. Mostly good value. But recently it's not been quite the same. I dont think they are investing in the upkeep of some areas and it's showing. Also decline in staff friendliness and efficiency. Perhaps it will improve again. But lost heart in visiting a little. Bit disappointing.

“Disappointing.”

We booked a compact double room, it certainly lives up to the description. It was very compact, bordering on tiny. The room is in dire need of refurbishment, the windows need repair, the wood is rotting around the frame. The bathroom was in a poor state, cracked sink, poor sealant with black mould… more

We booked a compact double room, it certainly lives up to the description. It was very compact, bordering on tiny. The room is in dire need of refurbishment, the windows need repair, the wood is rotting around the frame. The bathroom was in a poor state, cracked sink, poor sealant with black mould in places. The shower was cold, when this was reported to reception I was left feeling as tho the receptionist didn't believe me. The shower was not fixed during our stay. Having stayed at the Grand some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed previous visits I felt quite let down by the quality of the room which feels as tho it has been allowed to deteriorate. Now for the good stuff, in general the staff are excellent and friendly (aside from the curt receptionist who treated me with some disbelief). The pool was very good, the bar was excellent. We only did Breakfast on one day during our visit. The food was OK but not any better than most average hotel buffet breakfast.

“Stuffy room that stank of dogs”

First off our room absolutely stank of dogs, we had no dogs. Tired old room, in need of a paint, bathroom, black mouldy areas all in tiles in shower. First off our room absolutely stank of dogs, we had no dogs. Tired old room, in need of a paint, bathroom, black mouldy areas all in tiles in shower. Windows only open a tiny crack and the weather is boiling. No fridge in rooms and no water, although glasses were supplied. The room was so hot we could get any air- we did have a fan supplied. Receptionist lady arrogant (long back hair and glasses). Really long wait for bar and even with hardly any customers. The pool outside is lovely, the indoor One is open but men maintaining the Jacuzzi and finishing off the maintenance. The lift was dodgy and kept getting stuck. None of the staff seem happy or friendly. Probably because it’s so bloomin hot in there. Hanging baskets all dead , the whole hotel needs refurbishing, I wouldn’t rate it four star at all. The spa staff were friendly however.
