We arrived at the hotel and drove straight into a parking spot. The outside had lovely flowers and looked newly refreshed - a lovely welcome. We were checked in by Kendal who did so quickly and efficiently - smiling and wishing us a pleasant stay. We booked a family room and it was lovely - ready spacious and newly refurbished! Beautifully clean and the bathroom was also very clean. You can see the work the manager Craig and deputy manager Richard have done over the past year, guests seemed happy and relaxed and enjoying their surroundings. Breakfast was very well organised and it was lovely to see Basha and Igor making sure it was quick and replenished. The airshow from the room balcony was stunning and really is a prime position - the blue skies really helped with the view ☀️ Our room was replenished daily with bottled still and sparkling water, biscuits and coffee bags aswell as different teas. The good quality coffee is always a good sign of a good hotel! We were supplied with fans in the wardrobe to help with the heat on this glorious half term, these really helped get the sea breeze into the rooms. What really topped off our stay was the pod of dolphins that came right in front of the hotel one morning, jumping and swimming in the clear water - where else in the uk could you see such a sight. Best value for money UK stay I’ve had for years! We stayed in Room 426 - a deluxe with a balcony on the heatwave May Bank Holiday. The room was huge and there was a separate hallway with two wardrobes / drawers that led to the bathroom -which made the room itself feel even bigger. We only stayed for two nights, but for a longer stay that extra space, high ceilings and separation of the bathroom/bedroom would be really worthwhile. As some other reviews note, the furniture is a bit dated -but hypersleek modern design in a room with cornice would look odd too. To me, a recliner chair with a cushion and patio table for the balcony would add more value than refreshing the desk/drawers/tv cabinet. Given the age of the building and the balcony, I’d have thought air con wouldn’t be economical, but a decent fan to blow in some of the gorgeous sea air might be good. A mini fridge would have been good too… The bar was a bit under-equipped (basic classic cocktail menu?)and the young staff were very new and weren’t confident with some of basics like working the till when drinks were being put on the room, and check-in definitely could be speedier if it was made digital. But, this was at the start of season and everyone was warm and friendly and certainly wasn’t a real problem at all. Breakfast was very good value at £15 per head in advance - and in the restaurant with such huge windows and beautiful views. Hot/cold buffets always have the same challenges of balancing fresh food/ wastage and everyone arriving at the same time -I’d challenge anyone to get the same variety (inc drinks) in a local cafe or restaurant for the same price. I thought parking at £10 per day seemed totally reasonable and fair in comparison to other seaside resorts or city-breaks. The hotel’s bay rooms and gardens are sun drenched all day. Sadly the outdoor pool wasn’t open (this was made clear in advance and before arrival) so I hope it will be next time we visit. The indoor pool and hot tub were available, which we used in the early morning. One improvement we’d like to see: Maximising the existing outside space with places to sit/lie down and enjoy some drinks in the afternoon that is shaded -either by a parasol or sun sail. This would have meant we’d have had a light lunch and bar drinks rather than heading up to our room or out into the town for the hotter parts of the day. Top tip: Book a room with a balcony and bay view -totally worth it.

“Would not consider booking any other hotel when being part of an organisation looking to be provided with excellent serv”

Attended The Western League Convention. Superb weekend in a Hotel that provided excellent service, quality food and all provided with an attitude that clearly indicated that customer really mattered. Look forward to another Convention next year.

“Menu really needs updating”

We stayed in September 24 and July 25, we had an upgrade to a suite. I loved the room and space, ordered a nice bottle of bubbly to sit and take in the amazing views over Torbay. We stayed in September 24 and July 25, we had an upgrade to a suite. I loved the room and space, ordered a nice bottle of bubbly to sit and take in the amazing views over Torbay. The rooms do need an update, looking tired, but most of all they really need to update the evening menu. I have just recieved an email and from what I remember this menu has been, being served since 24. Dont eat the fish ( steamed) rubber. Lamb is lovely, We are food lovers and expect a hotel to change a menu every 6 months. If they changed the menu, we would go back, just because I like sitting on the balcony, taking in the veiws.
