Holiday Inn Leeds - Wakefield M1, Jct.40 (IHG) Date of stay: 18–21 November 2025 As a loyal guest of the InterContinental / Holiday Inn group for over 20 years, typically staying 70–100 nights a year (now around 30 post-Covid), I like to think I know the brand fairly well. This visit to Holiday Inn Leeds – Wakefield M1, Jct.40 was broadly in line with the standards I’ve come to expect, with just a few areas that could be improved. Arrival & Check-In • The hotel was easy to find using the Sat Nav and postcode, making for a smooth, stress-free journey. • Parking is straightforward, with a large car park directly outside the rear entrance. • Check-in was quick and welcoming, and the reception team created an excellent first impression. • As a Priority Club member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the choice of bonus points or a complimentary drink – a small touch, but very much appreciated. Rooms & Cleanliness • My room (223) was spotlessly clean, well presented and in generally good condition, very much in line with what I expect from the Holiday Inn brand. • Fixtures, fittings and linens were all fresh and well maintained. • The only issue was the air-conditioning unit, which intermittently whined and spluttered into life despite being switched off at the wall. I reported this to reception; although no engineer was available to fix it on the penultimate night of my stay, I was promptly offered either a room move or additional IHG points. I chose the points and appreciated the professional and helpful way the team dealt with it. Dining Experience • Evening meal: The menu offered the familiar Holiday Inn range – pizzas, burgers, pies, fries, steak and similar dishes – providing enough variety for most tastes. The open-plan bar and dining area created a relaxed, informal atmosphere. • I ate in the restaurant twice. On the first night I had the Hot & Spicy Pizza, which was nicely cooked on the top and bottom but unfortunately undercooked in the middle. The menu description also mentioned “zesty lime sauce and fresh coriander”, neither of which appeared on the pizza (as shown in the photos). • On the second evening, I ordered a steak rare (around £25). It arrived cooked to medium and was quite tough and difficult to cut, so on this occasion I chose not to continue with the meal and ate elsewhere having received a full refund. With a little more attention to quality and consistency on dishes like the pizza and steak, the restaurant offering could easily match the otherwise good standard of the hotel. • Breakfast: A balanced mix of continental and fully cooked options, with freshly prepared omelettes, poached eggs and boiled eggs available at no extra charge, made for a very good start to each day. Check-Out • Check-out was smooth and efficient, with professional and courteous staff ensuring everything was completed quickly. Overall Impression Overall, this is a comfortable, clean and generally well-run hotel, delivering the reliable Holiday Inn experience I’ve come to expect. The front-of-house team were friendly and helpful throughout. Addressing the air-conditioning issue in Room 223 and tightening up the quality and consistency of the pizza and steak in the restaurant would make future stays here even better. I would be happy to stay again.

Booked for a night away to relax. Booked b n b . Premier room I think it’s called. Double room with fridge and coffee making facilities. The inside of the hotels is smart and updated, trendy and comfy . Reception small .Checked in at the desk and signed the car in on a screen . Room was ok and clean , you can tell they have tried to update it. Bathroom good and good products. Shower could be better. Towels just average. Room big . Bed not very comfy . Recycling bins in corridor which I like. Had a meal in bar/ restaurant. No specials were on as they were using a new computer system, a few stressed people around. Had a few drinks and tried the food . We had a large nachos to share , it was nice but for 2 it could be better . I had a chicken burger and chips , wouldn’t have an again as burger felt sloppy on breading . Hubby had chicken bites and cauliflower bites, cauliflower bites were cold . We told someone and they took them off the bill . We didn’t eat them . Has no desert. We had breakfast and it was decent and it was hit and fresh , only thing missing were muffins. It would have been nice to have been advised you can order omelets or poached eggs from a menu. Wi-Fi was good and outlets in the bar area if needed. We would return and try other meals. Overall a decent stay
