A really fabulous stay in room No.1. Very attentive staff, a large, interesting bedroom with the mattress giving us the best nights sleep for ages. So much so, I need to get the make and model of the mattress. Breakfast was so good. I loved the smashed avocado on sourdough. The hotel is very handy for the Great Hall, The Westgate Museum and for the car park, which was only 4 mins away. I would really recommend.

“Friendly and cosy. Great breakfast.”

We had a cosy room, which was fairly compact but plenty big enough for two of us overnight. Very well presented and comfortable room, and friendly staff. Breakfast was very good quality and generous portions.

Oh wow! My husband and I stayed over for a date night. This gorgeous boutique hotel is so beautiful clean and the staff are friendly. The breakfast was amazing. From our first welcome we knew we were in safe hands. Thank you team.. we will be back!

“Way too expensive for what it was”

I understand that times are hard for the hospitality industry. I understand that times are hard for the hospitality industry. I get, too, the concept of supply and demand, bank holiday weekend prices etc. But if you are charging £249.75 (a price pushing towards more luxurious hotels or at least hotels with all sorts of additional facilities) for a room in a pub, then that pub room needs to be pretty amazing. Sadly, that was not our experience of our room in The Westgate. It was fine. If it had been £100, or even £75 cheaper, then I would have found things more acceptable. The positives: friendly staff (particularly the lady who served us at breakfast); the breakfast was very good; the room was clean enough The negatives: the room was very warm; the bathroom was very small; the water from the shower was lukewarm; whilst clean, the room wasn’t spotless - the extractor fan was full of dust / cobwebs, the toilet bowl was stained as was one of the towels. There was a fitting hanging loose on the toilet pipes and the base of the sink had been knocked so it looked a bit tatty. If you are charging £250 a night, even if it is just on Saturday nights, there are things that can be done to justify that price; eg rather than just a standard wooden chair, a comfy chair would be nice (2 would be even better!), better quality towels, mineral water instead of tap water, a mini fridge, disposable slippers, and a sparklingly clean bathroom. All things that cost very little but show that you’re making an effort to justify the huge price. A perfectly pleasant stay but way too expensive for what it was.
