What a wonderful stay. I arrived to find that I had been given a free room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise. The room was lovely, very clean, a lovely size and had a lovely ensuite. I unfortunately am terrified of spiders, and whilst the exposed brickwork in the room gave it wonderful character, I convinced myself I would have unwanted visitors during the night. I tried to put my big girl pants on, but inevitably by the time it came to go to bed I couldn't cope. I asked the lovely gent who was closing up to come and check my room for me, and not only did he move me to a different room, he also checked that one for spiders for me too! Absolutely wonderful service, both rooms were clean, well decorated and wonderfully comfortable. Thank you so much for being so welcoming and accommodating. The little touches in the room were also lovely, the little welcome brownies and the notes from the owners all made it feel really special. I have seen some reviews that mention the gap under some of the doors - I was moved into a room that had a gap under the door, and with the draft excluder did not notice any noise from other guests. We also ate there - food was superb, and we really enjoyed the quiz (added bonus that we won!)

Perfect location for your visit to winchester right at the top of the high street , the pub is excuisit and friendly atmosphere and staff, food great quality and espically for Coeliac requirements , accomodation was first class with a commanding view of the high street. Certainly have no problem recommending this place as your base when in Winchester .

I was just one night in Winchester, and Westgate (across the street from the impressive Westgate) could not have been better situated for me. It was less than a ten minute walk from the rail station, and equally convenient to medieval Saxon points of interest and a most impressive cathedral. It’s got the same “much appreciated” look and feel of all the smaller accommodations I have booked over the last five weeks, with its own signature amenities. I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Westgate and was more than satisfied with each encounter. And the staff was attentive and gracious. I did well here. You will likely be as pleased.

“Great location in a fantastic town.”

Great location and quaint rooms. Super convienient bar/restaurant on site with excellent food and beverage choices. Be prepared for some tight stairs in this historic building. Excellent stay!
