The King Walton room that I had was very nice. A great size and modern with some nice finishes. The bathroom was especially grand. By all accounts the Walton rooms are better than the Courtyard rooms, mainly due to them being in the main building. The other rooms are in a separate building by what I understand. The bar and restaurant (for breakfast) are nice. A lot of wood panelling throughout the ground floor that gives the hotel a feel of grandeur. Given its location at the mount it is quiet compared to a hotel in the city centre. There is also parking available. I will definitely return.

This hotel is a true hidden gem, it is just off the main city centre, still walking distance. Very well appointed rooms, high quality bed linen. The Hotel Manager Claudio, pays particular attention to all matters and this is reflected in the high professionalism and attention to detail of all of his staff . Lovely cosy bar area and lounge areas, restaurant is also excellent and the breakfast is superb No doubt about it the best Hilton brand in town, I have stayed in just about all of them, and this is by far the best value for money and the most courteous and professional staff

This hotel is in a beautiful building & I really like the location. It's about a 12-minute walk from the station & very easy to find. I stay here a few times a year & that's because it's great. The staff are almost always lovely - especially the very smiley Caitlin from the Reception team, as she always goes that extra step to make every stay special. The rooms are of an older style, which is fine, but does make them feel a little dark, but they are spacious & always clean. The restaurant is lovely & Victor always makes the breakfast experience a very pleasant one. He is very smart & professional, & he always tries to help people who have not stayed there before. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the evening service often falls short when compared to the rest of the hotel. The food takes much longer than it should - as do the drinks, & the starters often come out at the same time as the mains. There is nowhere near as much quality or engagement in the evening as there is in the morning. This really is a shame & a missed opportunity in my opinion as the menu, surroundings & potential are there to make this one of the best evening meal experiences in York.

We stayed in a George Walton Deluxe King room. The room felt quite dim but the furnishings were attractive and the available space had been used as effectively as possible. The corridors throughout the hotel were quite garish and didn't feel very bright or airy. On the positive side, all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. At £20 per person, we expected a better experience. The standard cooked breakfast options were limited to Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine or a Full English, alongside the continental buffet. However, we were told there was no hollandaise sauce left for either egg dish, meaning they could only be served dry or with mayonnaise or ketchup instead. Given that hollandaise is made of eggs, it seemed strange that they could run out of hollandaise but still serve eggs... The continental buffet was poorly stocked despite us arriving at around 8:45am, well before breakfast finished at 11:00am. There were no pastries left, and the meats and cheese selection had no cheese left. None of these items were replenished and when I asked, were told they had run out. My partner ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon from the supplementary menu, which incurred an additional £2.50 charge. For the price, it was disappointing to receive only a single slice of toast on this with no butter, particularly when several buffet items were unavailable. There was also no fresh coffee, only a machine. Overall, the hotel was pleasant enough and the staff were very friendly, but it didn't feel particularly special. Considering the price and the disappointing breakfast experience, it isn't somewhere we would be likely to return.
