Stayed for a weekend here. It is in a convienient location especially if you are arriving by train and have luggage. Its not far from the Minster, or the town centre. The decor is different to what you would normally get which we enjoyed. Bed was comfortable and the shower is fantastic. Everything was clean. We had dinner and breakfast - dinner was great and their menu goes the extra mile with allergies. Full details of whats in the dish. Follow the QR code on the menu, or they bring you a tablet. Food was delicious. Breakfast is slightly different to usual - Hot food is cooked to order, and there is a buffet for continental. Though it lacked Cheese and meats (or I didn't see them) But the hot breakfast was fantastic. Breakfast didn't start until 8am at the weekend which is later than I'd like but I understand why. Noise from the corridor seemed louder than expected but wasn't a problem. Heard nothing from adjoining rooms, and slept well. Plenty of power/usb sockets in the room, plenty of workspace areas in the lobby area, plus a Starbucks. On the roof is a bar with fantastic cocktails, and a good view of York. Outdoor seating area there would be great on a summer evening. Absolutly would return.

“Disappointing”

For the price we paid, the room felt mediocre—we could have stayed at a small boutique hotel instead for the cost. The lobby was incredibly noisy on arrival, and breakfast was poorly managed: we were incorrectly told it wasn’t included, as staff had written down the wrong room number, and many tables were left uncleared. Disappointing as i'd heard good things about Malmaison, especially as it was meant to be a special birthday treat.

Booked for 3 nights and chose Malmasion due to his reputation over the years. Having worked in luxury hotel for the last 25 years in London in a senior management capacity I had high expectations. Unfortunately, it did not meet them. We upgraded to a club room on arrival for a nominal cost per night however the room layout is pretty poor and a small room. The bed took up the whole room, the wardrobe space very impractical with tea and coffee facilties in the wardrobe with a full ironing board hanging from the railing, therefore minimal space for clothes to be able to hang up. A long big wall in between the bed and shower/toilet area , no bath only a shower. Lighting in room VERY dark. View from the bedroom window is empty building opposite (was in room 103) ,dry blood stain on the duvet cover (however when reported to reception it was changed quickly). Breakfast was average, we paid for room and breakfast, however for £27.00 per person for breakfast overpriced. There are lots of coffee shops, eateries and cafes in the area for breakfast/brunch if wanted. On the positive, staff are friendly and attentive on reception and at breakfast, and a great location in the heart of the city centre in york. If visiting York again I would not stay at the malmasion as so many other options of accommodation to chose from.
