This is a very friendly well organised hotel with really well thought-out modern rooms with all the equipment including irons, proper tea and coffee, great shower etc. I came to visit a friend here. You are only 10-15 mins walk from the centre of Leicester, the Richard III exhibit etc, and very close to the Uni and of course the sports stadiums. Recommended

After this experience, I wouldn’t recommend staying at IHG hotels again and wish I had read more reviews before booking. There were genuinely many positive aspects to our stay at voco Leicester. The hotel itself is modern, clean and comfortable, the food was excellent and the restaurant staff were warm and welcoming throughout. The chef in particular was exceptional and went above and beyond to accommodate my intolerance without hesitation. The bed and pillows were also some of the most comfortable I have experienced in a hotel. Unfortunately, what should have been a relatively small issue became overshadowed by the way concerns were handled once staff became aware of my mobility difficulties. During our stay I repeatedly struggled to contact reception from my room on the fourth floor. I am an ambulatory disabled guest and also had very limited mobile signal within the room, which meant I repeatedly had to make physically difficult journeys downstairs to reception for assistance. The route itself involved multiple hallways and lifts, making it especially frustrating once staff were aware of the situation. What disappointed me most was not the original issue itself, but the lack of ownership, communication and proactive problem solving once concerns were raised. I repeatedly felt I had to chase support and follow up myself rather than feeling reassured that the matter was being handled. Following my stay I spoke directly with the Front of House Manager and later provided a detailed written timeline of events at her request. I was informed that maintenance had tested the room phone and found it to be fully operational. This unfortunately reinforced one of my original concerns because if the phone itself was functioning correctly, then my repeated inability to contact reception becomes a wider concern regarding communication and access to assistance rather than a simple technical fault. I was also disappointed that management later confirmed in writing that because I had posted a public review before the hotel’s investigation concluded, no gesture of goodwill would be considered. This was despite me repeatedly attempting to resolve matters directly and privately first. What I found most frustrating was that I ultimately received two separate emails focused on informing me that no goodwill gesture would be offered, yet neither actually provided the outcome of the supposed investigation into the concerns raised. The latest email also directly stated that the case is now “considered closed from the hotel’s side”. I was additionally informed by IHG Customer Service that complaints and resolutions are ultimately at the discretion of the individual hotel management, meaning IHG themselves were unable to intervene further. It is a shame because there were genuinely many things the hotel did well and several staff members who left a very positive impression. However, the handling of the concerns raised and the subsequent complaint process ultimately left me feeling that my accessibility concerns were not taken seriously and, as a result, I would not feel comfortable returning.
