We stayed at the Lodge due to a family wedding being booked nearby. Arriving along the very plush private road, we found ample parking available, as the hotel is part of Kingswood Golf Club. Reception is easily accessed and there was a lovely warm welcome. We were checked in with the minimum of fuss and directed to our room; which turned out to be about 50m away. The rooms are extremely well appointed, with free water, tea & coffee, replenished daily. For some reason, this property is listed as a 2*, but I have paid a lot more to stay in a lot worse - this should really be a 3* minimum, even 4*. The finish to the rooms is excellent and the bathrooms are sumptuous - the rain shower just makes you want to stay in there forever! Not only that, everything is immaculate! Food and drinks are served a very short walk away, in the clubhouse. Breakfast is a delightfully quiet and calm affair, with your breakfast choices cooked to order, so deliciously fresh. Teas and a range of coffees are available on demand from the very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel guests can also have cereals, etc., you just have to ask, as these do not appear on the bar menu, available to everyone accessing the golf club. There is also a superb range of very reasonably priced drinks. We tagged an extra night onto our stay and had dinner on our last evening. Again, a very calm, casual affair, with a deliciously fresh burger and teriyaki salmon, cooked to perfection. Would I stay here again? Definitely!

We had a family party celebrating 3 different events all in one evening, The staff at the venue and the lodge were outstanding, super helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble at all, with 11 rooms booked in total for family and friends from all over the uk and parts of Europe, everyone commented on how great the accommodation was . Rooms great size very clean , peaceful atmosphere and an excellent breakfast the following morning.If you’re thinking of staying , think no more , do it you won’t regret it. Also if you need a venue for a future event look no further, the lodge team, events team and hospitality staff are all first class people. Special mention to Simon and his team for everything hospitality wise .

I had a generally pleasant stay and there is a lot to like about this hotel. The welcome on arrival was friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and the location quiet. My ground-floor room overlooked the golf course and had mirrored windows, which provided good privacy. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The main issue — and a significant one for me as a business traveller — was connectivity. EE mobile signal was virtually non-existent and the WiFi was very weak throughout the hotel. I was unable to work or stream any content. A speed test in my room showed just 2.62 Mbps, which is far below what’s required for business use. When I raised this with reception, the staff member acknowledged that both the WiFi and mobile signal were poor, but the interaction felt unhelpful. When I asked where I could make a phone call, I was directed to the car park, where I managed to get one bar of signal, despite heavy rain. No alternative, such as access to a landline, was offered. The room was otherwise comfortable, although a bright green emergency light by the door meant it was not possible to fully darken the room at night. I ate basic bar food, which was acceptable but fairly standard. Star rating justification: I’ve rated this stay 3 stars because while the hotel itself is comfortable and well located, the unreliable WiFi and limited support around connectivity make it unsuitable for business travellers. With an upgrade to the internet and some customer service refreshers, this could easily be a higher-rated stay and one I’d be happy to return to.
