Last draft.... No more changes: I stayed at Malmaison Aberdeen for eight nights in August. Once again, Malmaison delivered the warm hospitality and personal service that has made me such a fan of the brand. Having now stayed at four different Malmaison hotels, I’ve been impressed by the consistency of the brand. One of the things I appreciate most about Malmaison hotels is that they are large enough to offer excellent amenities, yet small enough that you can genuinely get to know the employees. That personal interaction has become one of my favorite parts of staying with the brand. The reception staff were exceptional. They were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to answer questions, give directions, and offer suggestions. One afternoon I took the hop-on, hop-off bus into downtown Aberdeen. After getting off, I decided to explore on foot rather than wait for the next bus. As the afternoon turned into evening, I realized I had wandered farther than I intended and had completely lost my bearings. Looking back, it was entirely my own inexperience as a solo traveler and my poor sense of direction, not the city itself. I called the hotel and the receptionist told me to stay put, while she arranged a taxi to pick me up. Her calm reassurance and willingness to help quickly resolved what had become a stressful situation. I will never forget her kindness and genuine concern. The dining room staff were equally wonderful, and the meals were another highlight of my stay. One evening I was encouraged to try sticky toffee pudding. I had never even heard of it before, but after one bite I was hooked! So much so that I ordered it three times during my stay because it was simply that good. I’ve tried it several times since, but nothing has ever compared. The outstanding staff, comfortable accommodations, and genuine hospitality reinforced why I continue choosing Malmaison whenever my travels take me to a city where they have a hotel.

“Couples night away”

Beautiful environment with lovely, cheerful staff. ROSIE who served us are dinner was especially lovely. The whole hotel atmosphere was warm and inviting. A great weekend away overall.

I never quite know what to write when reviewing a Malmaison, because I’ve always found I get exactly what I expect, and Malmaison in Aberdeen was no exception. Everything was perfect, from the building, the rooms, the bar, and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, to the food in the restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner. When we visited, England was playing football, and although the monitors around the bar were showing the game, they seemed positioned so that those watching could see them, but if you weren't interested, they just blended into the background. We were visiting in July, and although the “Heat Wave” across the UK wasn’t affecting Aberdeen at that point, we did notice a large upright rotating fan was provided in the room, so Malmaison wasn’t taking any chances, which we appreciated. ( There was also the usual temperature control panel on the wall which we assumed was for ‘normal’ conditions. Overall, everything, as I've said before, was perfect as you would expect from a Malmaison. One point to make was that we were using a Christmas gift voucher from a family member to part-pay our bill, but we were told that our relative hadn’t registered the card as they should have. But this wasn't a problem, as the receptionist dealt with the issue and was only explaining it to us because it meant they would take a few seconds longer to process the gift card. I was grateful that here, the computer might say no, but they fixed that! If/when we find ourselves in Aberdeen again, we will certainly return to Malmaison.
