Stayed for a few days visiting Aviemore. The lodges are in a nice area away from main resort. Nice and quiet, literally no passing traffic. Lodges are large, 3 bedrooms each with an en-suite. Loads of heat in them too, perfect for when the temp turns cooler. Kitchen area is tight and no oven makes life a bit difficult for cooking in accommodation. The lodges could be really good, loads of potential but need freshened up and a bit more maintenance around simple things (cracked tiles, silicon, chips in wall ect) Good base and use of facilities in main resort, particularly the swimming pool which kids loved. Again a bit of tlc around changing areas would really bring place up a bit

“Could do alot better”

We had booked for six nights coming in at over £1,800, which is alot of money and in our opinion, not worth it. That did not even include breakfast! Which it should have at this price. The location of these lodges is outstanding and nestled within the woods, but the lodges are in a major need of refurbishment. This is the sixth time we have stayed in these lodges. I will note, however, that the lodge we were in this time (fifteen) did have a new kitchen, but the rest of the lodge is desperately needing updated in order to reflect the prices they are charging. We never received our log burner starter pack, so make sure you call reception and ask for it if there is no kindling, logs or matches there. We called and it was delivered. We got married on the Macdonald Aviemore resort three years ago. Not even a nod to this from the resort, even tho they did last year, kindly provide a bottle of fizz. We sadly had to leave a day early due to a family bereavement. I asked the man at reception if we could have a credit for a future visit or a refund. He said he would look into it and call me back. Not heard a peep, and that was over a week ago. Not the best customer service. They seem to favour large and constant coach parties, causing utter chaos each day rather than their many loyal guests who have been using them for years for special occasions and holidays. Disappointing Aviemore Resort.

The lodges could be really nice, unfortunately they are pretty tired. With the exception of the kitchen the rooms are all a decent size. The kitchen is small and does not have a cooker or washing machine. No need really for a washing machine but if you are going to be much more than a short break it would be useful. Bedrooms all have en-suites which are adequate. We were in a three bedroom and one room had a bath. Furniture in the lounge just needs to be updated and some decorating to freshen the place up would be good. Carpets are threadbare on the stairs and also need renewing. Change overs could do with a brush being applied to the veranda outside, which does not happen as it was clearly not done when we visited the lodge. The good points are that it’s nice to be in the wood. The location is good with only a short walk to the centre of Aviemore and lots of places to visit and walks that are very close by. We wanted a change of towels, phoned up reception and was told it would be passed on to housekeeping. Nothing arrived so we phoned again and this time was told we could only have fresh towels after four days. A bit long to wait, but after a conversation we finally got fresh towels on out third day. So good they reacted to our request.

Booked and paid £878 for a three bedroom lodge with Wi-Fi in all rooms for 2 nights. Arrived, booked in got to the lodge and discovered the Wi-Fi was down. Rang reception told Wi-Fi had been down for a week, plenty of time to sort out an alternative source of Wi-Fi for the lodges. Expressed my d… more

Booked and paid £878 for a three bedroom lodge with Wi-Fi in all rooms for 2 nights. Arrived, booked in got to the lodge and discovered the Wi-Fi was down. Rang reception told Wi-Fi had been down for a week, plenty of time to sort out an alternative source of Wi-Fi for the lodges. Expressed my displeasure and was told the Duty Manager would ring me with an update. No phone call all weekend so when we booked out on Sunday and complained again I was told the Manager would ring me. Tuesday afternoon now and no phone call, very poor customer service. The lodges are spacious and all bedrooms have large en-suites but they are badly in need of maintenance and refurbishment. The stair carpet in our lodge was threadbare, the sofa shabby, the seats on the dinning chairs stained and the handrail on the stairs up to the lodge very wobbly. Not what you expect for the price we paid. Saving grace was the weather was wonderful all weekend.
