The rooms are large and comfortable, and the hotel staff are very welcoming, but the menu is quite uninspiring and the choice of beer is limited. What makes this hotel worth staying at, and the reason I keep coming back, is the fantastic range of fitness classes included with your stay. Spin Blast, Total Tone, Highland Hustle, and Yoga are all brilliant, and the instructors are excellent. A special mention to Kat, whose classes always have amazing music, great energy, and are the perfect way to unwind after a long, boring day at work. It’s the classes that make me look forward to coming back.

“Ok hotel”

Hotel was good but hardly any staff on. No one to ask for anything. The food on an evening was very disappointing. If you went on your own and could order of the main menu it was ok but because there was 40 of us we had a different menu and it was terrible.

I expected more from this hotel. I stayed with a group of nine artists and, while the experience was generally okay, it did not feel like a luxury stay. Several rooms had serious functional issues, and one member of our group had to move rooms three times: in one, the heating could not be turned down or off; in the next, the shower water was so hot it couldn’t be used; the third room functioned as expected. I would expect rooms with unresolved problems simply should not be rented until fixed. In my own room, I found trash left in the bathroom and a sink half full with dirty water; when I reported it, I was told to reach into the water to open the drain, which was not the acceptable solution. The hotel and rooms generally appeared noticeably more worn in person than in the website photos. Upon arrival, I was given the wrong room number and key and accidentally walked in on another guest, which made for a very awkward start. On the positive side, we did encounter several competent and kind staff members, and the breakfast service was consistently very good with plenty of choice. However, dinner was inconsistent: one evening I was served a white fish when I had been told it was salmon (it tasted good, but the server didn’t know what it was), and on another night our meals were so over-salted they had to be sent back. As a result, our group chose to dine in the hotel only three nights out of eight, opting to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay. Another point that I feel I should mention is the bathroom design choice. The bathtubs are raised quite high and difficult for the older members of our group to use as it was a big step up to get in and out of the tub. It seemed to be an awkward design choice for older guests and if you want a shower you have to be able to get into the tub.
