In Sep 25 (Saturday), in what proved to be an inspired choice, our daughter's Wedding Reception was hosted in exceptional fashion by the Dumfries Arms Hotel, Cumnock. This atmospheric and beautifully appointed venue has a wonderful entrance foyer leading directly into a grand function room with bar which generously accommodated the 60+ guests. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Special mention must be made of Alexandra who brilliantly managed a calm, understated but politely commanding, hosting of the whole proceeding. Particular mentions also to the very helpful Ops Manager Keir, Amanda in Events and the many other friendly and diligent staff including Ashleigh (bar), Lucy and Micah-Leigh who supported us. Crucially, many congratulations are also due to the chefs and kitchen staff. The three course meal (including splendid steak pie) which importantly was hot at service, was delicious and, needless to say once again, generously portioned. The evening buffet provided was in a faultlessly similar manner. Many of the wedding party including my Wife and I, our other two daughters and the Bride and Groom all stayed in the Hotel. The rooms were of an very high standard, tastefully decorated with a country-house, warm, traditional theme. Importantly, acknowledgement must be made of the cleaners and house staff for such excellent preparation - thank you. The following morning's full Scottish breakfast was equally splendid. Our overall experience was quite frankly, outstanding. My Wife and I happily thoroughly recommend the Dumfries Arms Hotel to anyone looking for a warm, generous reception at a beautiful venue in Scotland. “Excellent 2 night stay for a family wedding nearby.”

Excellent staff, very welcoming and attentive. Easy check-in, great restaurant. Clean rooms ,excellent value and nothing too much trouble for the staff. 45mins taxi from Glasgow airport .

My Friends and i stayed at the hotel for one night, The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem, well done to all the staff you are a credit to the hotel, the food was fabulous too, if back in the area i would stay here again.

Spent New Year’s Eve here to attend the New Year’s party. The most outstanding thing about my stay was how lovely the staff were, so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble, from the receptionist who booked us in, to the bar staff and not forgetting the housekeeping staff, who had a cheery smil… more

Spent New Year’s Eve here to attend the New Year’s party. The most outstanding thing about my stay was how lovely the staff were, so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble, from the receptionist who booked us in, to the bar staff and not forgetting the housekeeping staff, who had a cheery smile and a conversation with us, even when working on New Year’s Day. The room was lovely, tastefully decorated with a modern bathroom, and our breakfast menu was varied and well cooked, and again the serving staff took the time to interact with my husband and I. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again, and thoroughly recommend this hotel.
