“Good”

To be honest we had a very pleasant time in Breave heart guest house . The room was OK, definitely need some TLC, but the bed and the pillows was one of the most comfortable that we ever have. Very quiet place and only 10 minutes away from the old town.

Upon arriving, we realised it was the wrong location for us. The owner provided the steps to request a cancellation and refund. This is a guest house not a hotel, my mistake, but great owner full of recommendations for food and places to visit

Let me be clear with a true and honest review. If you look and pay for cheap accommodation than that is what you get here. Pros: it was clean. (Except for one cup). They knew the heating wasn’t very good and provided a top quality portable heater that really did make a difference. It is not in city centre but it’s only like a 10 minute walk. The bed was generally comfy, and the pillows soft. I had a good sleep both nights I stayed. Cons: the bathroom is a makeshift bathroom from what I’m guessing was a big utitilty closet. Therefor there was no heating and it was cold. The windows are single glazed. I kept my bathroom door open when I went out which worked in warming up the bathroom a bit. The room is small. It was fine for me, but had I travelled and shared the room (regardless of double bed) it would have been a tight squeeze. Although they told me check in with receptionist between 2 - 6 this was not the case when I arrived. My keys were in a lockbox and they sent me an email with codes to get in. I never got a warm welcome - and I didn’t see a single member of staff the entire visit. Not even cleaners. Anything else: I booked via booking.com and did not receive the room I booked. It had very specific photos and prices next to room. I booked based on space in the room but was given a different room- which I’m pretty sure had a different price tag on booking.com. There was no one to complain too as no receptionist and honestly ringing the ‘doorbell’ to enquire seemed pointless, so I let it go.

Basic room which has seen better days. Tiny en suite, but did the job. Average level of cleaning and care. It is on a fairly busy road and as it was warm we had to keep the window open. There aren’t any curtains, just wooden shutters, which We had to leave open slightly to keep the air flowing so couldn’t shut out the traffic noise or the early morning light. Everything was done via messages including getting your room key from a coded box, which is fine as long as you don’t have any questions. Location is fine if you don’t mind a 15 min Ish walk to the Royal Mile.
