We love our visits to Shieldaig Lodge. Such a relaxing place to enjoy a few days stay. Once again the weather was fabulous and the views across the bay from our room were outstanding We were supposed to stay in January but were cut off with snow ,so the hotel very kindly allowed us to rearrange for Feb. The welcome is always warm and we love the fact that they have some dog friendly rooms and dogs are welcomed not just tolerated. If you have a dog, you can dine in the whisky bar rather than the main restaurant (this is the only dog free area) Food is always excellent (it would be great to also have a lighter bites menu for folks staying longer than a few days) The bed and bedding are extremely comfy with good black out curtains and silence providing an environment for great sleep. Breakfasts are delicious - cooked to order with local black pud and haggis. Perfect eggs! The whisky bar and whisky flights presented on an antler were very special. I thouroughly enjoyed my different cask style tasting beside the fire. We are heading back in April for another few days and looking forward to it very much. The only thing we hope has changed is the playlist in the bar (it was a bit dreary and must drive the staff mad listening to that all day!)

We have just stayed for three nights at this hotel and can honestly say it surpassed all of our expectations. A truly wonderful absolutely amazing experience. This trip was an early birthday present for my husband and I managed to surprise him with a room upgrade to a loch view room; he was delighted, we sat in bed in the morning with a coffee and watched the very playful seals out in the loch. The hotel, our room, the whisky bar, restaurant etc are all beautifully furnished and everywhere was immaculate. All staff so very welcoming at all times and we honestly wanted for nothing. We ate twice in the restaurant, one night we had the 2 or 3 course menu and another night, we had the 7 course tasting menu. Both dining experiences were fantastic however I would highly recommend the 7 course tasting menu; we decided to not know what we were having and oh my goodness, a wonderful taste sensation. The quality of food is top class, using locally produced foods when possible. I've never tasted oysters and scallops like this before. Shieldaig Lodge Hotel you are exquisite and gave my husband and I the most memorable hotel experiences we've ever had. We cannot wait to return, soon I hope. Thank you to all your amazing staff too, from Victor and Evan to all restaurant staff and house staff also. What a team. What a hotel.

“How Much Weight Should Accessibility Balance a Review”

I do have accessibility issues sufficient to telephone the location and ask about facilities as a walk-in shower is an imperative. I do have accessibility issues sufficient to telephone the location and ask about facilities as a walk-in shower is an imperative. I did make this enquiry and was told that the bedroom was on the first floor and that there was no lift. Fine we can manage three flights of stairs in a modern flat. The only issue that i have is accessibility, we decided on the special offer of three nights for the cost of two if the guests chose the 7 course tasting menu on one of the evenings. You must have read other reviews vouching for the rooms, food, location and facilities, yes, impeccable, as reported. But watching one's wife crawl on her knees to enter the shower room and unable to use the shower as there were no grab handles and it was not a non-slip shower tray in the shower was too much, For my advanced years I am reasonably fit, regularly play 18 holes of golf, but I did have a problem entering and leaving the shower room, stairs too steep and no grab handles, I had to wedge my elbows against the side walls to secure safe egress. What Room were we in, ROOM 9! We could not stay for the full booking and departed a day early, the saga continues. We complained twice, once on arrival, requesting a room change, no available rooms was the reply despite being an early arrival. Second complaint, after departure, was responded to by misquoting the initial telephone call to the hotel about the facilities Now to resolve the Rating *- Yes 1 star minus for accessibility issues and resolving these ****1/2 4 and a half for everything else including the 7 Course Taster Will I be returning? You know the answer to that enquiry!
