Lovely hotel, with great service and a great pool. The staff on arrival were very friendly and helpful.

A 4 day stay was mostly good but the breakfast service was poor by any standards. Let's start with the good stuff. The hotel is well located for the SEC and surrounding attractions. It is adjacent to good transport links into the city centre. The rooms are modern, of decent size and perfectly good fro a short stay. I could be picky and say it lacked electrical/USB sockets (3 seems insufficient for modern uses where phones, watches, ear buds, kindles, etc all need charging). I also thought 4 hangers was a bit frugal. On a plus side the air con worked great. Not always a necessity in Glasgow, but we were blessed with good weather so appreciated. The hotel gym was excellent. We didn't use the pool but it looked very nice. The big let down for us was the food offering. It wasn't so much the food itself which was okay without being anything beyond average, but the service surrounding it. I suspect a combination of understaffing allied to inattentive staff contributed to a level of chaos. Tables were being left uncleared for longer than they should (makes things look messy). Condiments were missing from tables (I used the restaurant 5 times during the stay and on every occassion at least one condiment was missing from the rack - I was laways scouring nearby tables to find what was missing from mine). The breakfast service was particularly poor. Coffee machines not working, crockery not available, food items on the buffet running out and not being replenished without having to ask. Overall the food service was a let down. However, despite the food related issues there is much to recommend the hotel. I would stay there again but I'd hope for a better experience in the resaurant.

“A tale of two scores!”

This is a really tricky one to rate. The reception staff and housekeeping were great; friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and the beds were comfy. The furniture was modern and smart and there was plenty of seating in the foyer to relax in. Then there’s the bar and restaurant. Hmmm… more

This is a really tricky one to rate. The reception staff and housekeeping were great; friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and the beds were comfy. The furniture was modern and smart and there was plenty of seating in the foyer to relax in. Then there’s the bar and restaurant. Hmmm. While the food really was nice, the staff were just shocking! Despite showing my booking reference there was no table reserved. (It was a busy night and we had to just stand around waiting for them to find a table. ) There was no explanation of how to order food, (it’s from the table. This is no issue, actually prefer it if anything, but we waited for a while for someone to take our order before we realised!). We ordered two glasses of wine which were the same measurement on the order but came as different measures. Asked one of the waiting in staff about it and he pointed at the bar. That’s it, just pointed. The main course came out while we were only half way through the starter. The waitress just put the food down so we watched it go cold before we were ready to start eating. Then the staff started clearing up the table before we’d all finished. And lastly, the glasses were dirty on our last round of drinks. All in all, would stay but not eat here because while the food is nice, the experience is just jarring!
