“Lovely location, mediocre experience”

Highlights: location-sits on the river with quick access to the city center. Beautiful views from the main building, river view rooms. Nice staff. Nice pool and spa on site. Lovely patio that overlooks the river. Things to Keep In Mind: the hotel has 3 buildings. The main hotel has lovely views, clean and comfortable rooms. The 2nd building smells very musty, is not handicap accessible, and has a basement room that is very damp and dark (until you turn on the super bright fluorescent lights). You also have to go down a winding staircase to get to the room. The 3rd building is the cottage which is also not accessible and feels damp and cramped. You won’t know that you are in an outer building until check in unless you ask. The manager was very responsive when we asked for a different room which we appreciated. While the staff are kind, the hotel seems Understaffed and many of the staff report being new. This led to a lot of waiting. We scheduled an afternoon tea-we were seated for 15 min and no one had come to take our order. We had to find a server in the Brasserie-he was very nice and took our order but had no idea what was being served. He brought us a menu and we figured it out. We had to track him down to pay the bill later. He was nice but covering a lot of areas. I had the same experience when I ate dinner in the Brasserie. The food was ok. Overall-a mediocre experience. I hope they hire and train more staff-I think that will help. They def need to remodel the rooms in the two adjacent buildings (and get rid of the basement room) before I’d stay in those. It really is a beautiful property and it has tremendous potential.

For a 4 star hotel I am very disappointed. We stayed as part of our honeymoon, and our view consisted of a first floor room facing the car park in the separate building. For a 4 star hotel I am very disappointed. We stayed as part of our honeymoon, and our view consisted of a first floor room facing the car park in the separate building. There’s no ac, no safe, no mini fridge, and the room was the size of a closet. The photos online are very misleading. I am not seeing the value, besides location, for what we paid. We would come back to Inverness but not to this hotel.
