“Well run site in a fantastic location with handy local services”

This is a very well run and neatly maintained site in a spectacular location with handy local shops and a bar and pizzeria 5 minutes’ walk away. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful and made us and our dog feel very welcome. We wish we had more time here.

The nice clean site with nice clean facilities situated in a great location to explore a stunning area. Others have mentioned there is no WiFi - that didn't bother us. However, the experience was blighted by the caravan and motorhome club's staggeringly ridiculous policy which could easily result in confrontation between customers! We booked for two nights and were directed to a numbered pitch. However, unbeknown to us, if you leave your numbered allocated pitch (we had a campervan) to go for dinner etc and another customer turns up, the staff will knowingly direct the new arrival to your spot IF you haven't left something (anything) in your spot apparently signalling to all (who know about this stupid policy) that this spot is taken. Imaging our surprise when we arrived back from dinner at 10pm to find our pitch occupied! I wasn't best pleased as I thought they were chancers! So, I politely knocked on their van to inform them they were in our allocated spot. Thankfully they hadn't gone to bed, and a clearly nervous man with his wife in the back opened their door. They explained they were aware of this but had been directed by the lady who runs the site, and didn't want to argue with her (as, and I quote, "you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her!") and she said to tell us the pitch next to our allocated pitch was free and we were to relocate to there instead! On hearing this nonsense I wasn't convinced, but being in a good mood and given it was no hardship to move along one pitch that's what we did. So, in the morning, my wife approached the staff couple about the situation. That's when the staff explained the apparent unwritten policy that you should leave something in your pitch! Apparently most people don't leave the site of an evening. Now, what if I took the stance I've been given this numbered slot on arrival which was pre-booked and pre-paid and not knowing this ridiculous policy held my ground thinking I've got some chancers in our pitch, and the new arrivals didn't appreciate being disturbed at 10.00pm (we could have been back later) and they also held their ground. This stupid policy is a recipe for a nasty scenario! Its like leaving your hotel room and coming back to find someone else in your room because you left it! It beggars belief from a national club! They know what pitches are free, but still choose to have a random free for all policy, but yet you are directed to a numbered free pitch - staggering!
