Well located on the main street in Oban and within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and attractions (except perhaps McCaig's Tower). The twin room, facing the car park at the back, was quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable. the rooms at the front do not have a better view as they only look out to the shops and houses over the road. Nice flat screen TV and modern bathroom with the shower over the bath. Too bad the adjoining steakhouse has been closed. The staff were friendly and courteous and the breakfasts plentiful. No lift to the bedrooms could cause difficulty for those with walking difficulties. Very quiet in the bar in the evenings and we only returned to the hotel when we were ready for bed. The hotel has been sold and will be under new management within the month.

Stayed 3 nights at Rowantree. Welcoming friendly staff and carparking at rear. Carparking in Oban appears difficult, so we wanted a place within walking distance of town and left the car out the back. The hotel is well located for this. Meals in the dining room were good. About 15mins easy walk to the ferry terminal for Mull and Iona tour. The room we had was very clean but a bit cramped by comparison to other accommodation we had in our 5 weeks in Scotland. However, it's really only a place to sleep for the night, and the important bits (bed, shower) were good, so it's ok. Our room faced rear to the carpark so it was fairly quiet. Getting luggage up the stairs was a bit of a challenge, wide enough, but...stairs. Good choice of pubs and eateries in Oban. A destination I would recommend.

“Amazing Food”

Didn’t stay at hotel but there for a meal recently. The food was excellent and highly recommended. There with friends who are local to the town. Had 2 courses and was full and no room for a sweet. Staff very pleasant. If back in area would definitely return.

A nights stay prior to a ferry to Mull. Easy to find and with probably just enough car parking. A great location for enjoying the harbour and its attractions and also for a quick transfer on to the ferry terminal. A nights stay prior to a ferry to Mull. Easy to find and with probably just enough car parking. A great location for enjoying the harbour and its attractions and also for a quick transfer on to the ferry terminal. The rear entrance from the car park is indicative of a no nonsense approach at the hotel; which means you go past the kitchen and laundry holding area; the main bar and reception area are spacious and clean. The room was fine, if you just want to rest your head, but a little pricey for what it was. Breakfast a little let down by overcooked poached eggs.
