Stayed 2 nights. Twin bed room in the new part of the hotel on the 1st level up the stairs. Check in was like leaving on an international flight, passport, credit card, car registration number etc even though the room and breakfast had been prepaid. Parking is available but not well signposted. A fellow helped with the bags and the reception area was busy with bags and visitors. Room was really nice, good amenities in the bathroom (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc. no instructions for how to work the aircon controls. Wifi was not working for me in any areas of the hotel. Had the best dinner meal in the dining room, the food was superb but pricey when you include wine / drinks and so we ate dinner in town on the second night. Breakfast was not good. They have juice available on a buffet…only apple but not sure if others had been available which ahad been consumed already. No cereal available. The server brings out a tiered plate with a small pot of yoghurt, 2 small slices of watermelon and pineapple. 2 croissants, butter portions, jam and a small packet of Nutella. This is shared between 2 people. We ordered avocado on sourdough toast with NO poached eggs. The plates came out with sourdough, avocado spread on the toast and 2 poached eggs. We explained we didn’t want the eggs only the toast. The server explained you can’t change the menu and sourdough with avocado comes with eggs (we weren’t that hungry so we didn’t want to order wasted eggs)….but we got eggs on soggy toast spread either avocado. I couldn’t eat the soggy toast. The breakfast was not good. The next morning I ordered off the menu and only ate what I wanted but it is very wasteful approach if you can’t order a breakfast item and ask to not include something like a sausage or a piece of haggis etc. Very wasteful approach.

This was our third hotel during our Scotland trip and we liked it way better than the ones in Edinburgh and Inverness. The front desk staff was quick and friendly. There is no elevator so we carried our bags up the one flight of stairs. While our room didn't have a view, we liked that we could open the windows which were on the slanted ceiling portion. The bed was comfy and we didn't hear any outside noise. We also were happy the shower was easy to use (last place had separate hot/cold knobs and it took time to get the temperature right without scalding yourself). The parking lot was appreciated, although a somewhat tight squeeze when full. We liked the location in that it was an easy drive to The Old Man of Storr and walk to nearby restaurants. We were happy to see pancakes on the breakfast menu, but be warned...they are small and you don't get much syrup. We were able to get eggs with the pancakes although that is not how it is listed. They offer 4 chargers for EVs, but only 2 work.

My father and I stayed here during our tour of Scotland in separate rooms. Overall, the hotel feels modern and well-kept. We were happy with the rooms and the breakfast, and the plentiful parking was welcome. I also observed a couple EV chargers (we had a ICE rental, I cannot comment on charging speed). My room was right above the smoking area, which meant I was treated to the smell of cigarettes several times during the night we stayed. Checkin was a high-touch experience, which likely appeals to the sort of clientele that are willing to pay the rates they charge for rooms. For us, it felt a bit overbearing. The hotel does not appear to have a lift, and, while staff were on hand to carry suitcases upstairs, guests should be aware there are lots of stairs throughout. Overall, I struggle to reconcile the experience with the price paid. I may stay again if I visit the Isle of Skye, but I will do it with eyes wide open that the value does not match the room rate.

“Comfortable Hotel but at a price”

This hotel is a 5 minute walk outside of town and is well staffed and comfortable. We stayed in a room that was outside the main part of the hotel. We didn’t spend much time there and it was comfortable enough. The restaurant was good- I enjoyed the breakfast we had every morning. Dinner is a little pricey, but every waitress we had was wonderful. There was one instance that was a little upsetting. We had just paid £180 for dinner and asked for two martinis as a night cap to take to our room. The bar tender set them down and we began to get up to leave. He loudly asked ‘Did you already pay?’ And we explained yes, we had told the waitress we wanted these to go. He immediately went over and loudly said ‘did they pay? They’re leaving…’ to be treated this way after spending 1600 USD for three nights and 180 GBP for dinner was a wee bit off putting. He was welcome to ask the waitress but to be so loud and accusatory was unnecessary. This removed a star for me.

This hotel is overpriced for the quality of the rooms. The beds were very worn, with noticeable dips in the middle of the mattresses, which appeared not to have been flipped or properly maintained. The breakfast was pleasant but inconsistent in quality. We also used the relaxation room and dry sauna, but were concerned that the accessible bathroom had scalding hot water, with only a warning sign posted. If the hotel is aware of this safety hazard, it should be fixed rather than simply noted.
