It was a pleasant experience. Did not realize it was a 3 day holiday with the Victorian extravaganza going on so Parking was tough. The festivities were fun to watch. Location awesome right on the promenade with a great view out the small 3rd floor window. The hotel could sure either upgrading to bring up to date but not loose the nostalgia. The lounge area mustiness was covered up with room scents. Pictures faded. Bathroom very small and would be ok if updated with a corner opening door and clear glass to make it not feel so tight. A blind would be good to help block out the light from the street on the window. Our room did not get stocked after the first night so had to ask for coffee and supplies for second night. Staff was great.

“Bit overpriced for us”

Stayed here for a last minute night away with the hubby. Hotel was very clean and all staff were met were very friendly. We stayed in standard double room. The room was very clean, unfortunately the bed for us was too soft so was uncomfortable so didnt get a good sleep but thats not the hotels faul… more

Stayed here for a last minute night away with the hubby. Hotel was very clean and all staff were met were very friendly. We stayed in standard double room. The room was very clean, unfortunately the bed for us was too soft so was uncomfortable so didnt get a good sleep but thats not the hotels fault. The bathroom was lovely and clean although the toilet was very loose so we were worried it might come away from the system at times. The room was quite outdated but we didn't really mind that. There was a lift which was great as we both have mobility issues. The breakfast was nice although small portions. We paid for the full shebang Bacon was lovely, Sausage was lovely, eggs perfectly cooked but the mushrooms were awful. it says on the menu scones and muffins too but there wasn't actually any of them there. We probabbly wouldn't stay there again as didn't feel it was worth the price we paid.

“Not bad value, good for a short stay”

We stayed here in early July for three nights. The place is clean, the bar and beer garden on the front are nice for a drink before we went out of an evening, and the beds are comfy. We stayed here in early July for three nights. The place is clean, the bar and beer garden on the front are nice for a drink before we went out of an evening, and the beds are comfy. My solid recommendation to anyone staying here is to pay a little more and have a room with a sea view. The reviews of the standard double rooms aren't great. The view is of a wall and a back street in some rooms. Breakfast was a tenner extra and adequate too. I'd probably stay here again.

Although we had a pleasant Stay, this is clearly not a four star hotel. From the outset, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Central hotel and a Can y bae are owned by the same person and have been knocked through to essentially become one big common space. The lounge areas and the bar have nice views of the sea and comfortable sofas and the alcohol is reasonably priced, there were board games to use and enough space to sit and relax in a quiet corner or a Group gathering. Unfortunately the hotel rooms do need updating, it looks like they’ve recently been painted however you can see that the fire alarms are quite dated, there is coving missing on the ceilings, architrave from the walls, there are holes in the walls that have never been filled and the electrics are quite dated too. However, there is a flatscreen TV in the room although it’s not a smart TV, there are refreshments and free water in the room, although no fridge. And the furniture although dated does match and provided plenty of room for storage in the room. The room was quite big - at least the ones we stayed in. Comfortable seating other than on the bed provided plenty of opportunity to make the most of the view. There were bedside table lamps which helped make the room cozy given the ceilings are really high. There was parking on site at the rear of the hotel - although not enough spaces for everyone. And a lift to help transport luggage up the steep stairs. Every room just needs modernising, there are bits of things stuck to the wall which provide no function any longer but have been left there otherwise there would just be holes. There were three large mirrors which is unnecessary - they didn’t match the room and were positioning in odd places? The dated pine furniture could easily be painted to provide a low cost option to modernise it. The en-suites are small but functional, with hot showers and good pressure. Unfortunately, the en-suite floors are dirty with old muck and dust along the edges and the corners - a deep clean is needed.
