“Central location, decent hotel, poor parking”

We were two friends staying a night in the hotel on the way back to Ireland from a driving vacation in England. The hotel is nicely situated facing the beach, and central to the main town. Parking is problematic. The hotel has maybe four spaces, and after that you have to park on the street where you pay for parking in the day time. We were double lucky. A slot became available just across from the hotel when we arrived, and since we arrived around four we could just about get away with parking until the next morning. Downside: Since the hotel is on the beach, the car had been used as a toilet for many a seagull and pigeon, and needed cleaning before we could drive off the next morning (and the trip in the car wash when I got home). Checkin was fast and efficient, and the rooms were fine. Although we had asked for twin beds, we were given a room with a double bed. Luckily, the bed could be separated into two, and the hotel did that quite expediently. After that the room was fine, and we had a good quiet nights sleep there. We had a few drinks in the bar and that worked reasonably. An advantage of the hotel is the situation. But Llandudno in general disappointed us. Too much of a tourist trap really. Pricewise we paid what you would expect for a four star hotel in the area, not cheap, not very expensive.

Stayed here before two years ago so a revisit. We stayed 4 nights B/B again. The facade and general ambience of this hotel is a charming Victorian building in possibly the best position in Llandudno. Positives - the staff generally at the hotel are friendly and welcoming particularly the reception staff so no complaints on that score. We booked a classic room at a reasonable price. This room was comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom in a quiet area of the hotel. Also the standard of cleanliness was good both in the room itself and throughout the hotel generally. Negatives - what lets this hotel down is the breakfast - the cooked breakfast is of poor quality - some of the cooked food was burnt on a number of occasions and in particular the sausages and bacon which are of a low quality. I like scrambled eggs which were ‘watery and tasteless’ so didn’t bother again. I would also mention the choice of bread was typical supermarket brand just white/brown sliced - no other quality bread or otherwise on offer. I would mention there is some fruit, a few pastries, yoghurts also on offer for people who may not require a cooked breakfast. N.B. Suggest Management either change your chef or serve a better quality cooked breakfast to your customers. The breakfast served here does not even touch the surface of breakfasts served at the IHG - ie. Crown Plaza hotels both in quality and choice on offer. I would say to anyone thinking of staying here - this is an acceptable hotel but if you are thinking of upgrading your room maybe to a suite or otherwise do bear in mind that you will be receiving the same cooked breakfast. However, if a good cooked breakfast does not interest you then perhaps this hotel may be acceptable to you. Personally a good quality breakfast should be part of the experience of staying at a hotel.
