I stayed 5 nights at the Hotel San Martin and really enjoyed my stay. An older building with older rooms but don't let that sway you as it really is a superb hotel.... I was in a double room, 1st floor and couldn't fault it. The room is accessed by either stairs or lift and was better than expected. A very large room with a good size bathroom and airconditioning that keeps the room at a very pleasant temperature. Plenty of storage with a safe and a bar fridge. Bed was very comfortable with lots of bedding comfortable pillows. Chairs and table for those times when writing postcards or reading. The hotel is secure, as the staff request you leave your key at the front desk - a great idea! The staff were friendly, helpful and always ready with "hola" and good tourist information. The breakfast was basic but plentiful and delicious in a very bright and roomy restaurant on the ground floor. Across the road in the park is an artisan market which runs most days of the week and into the evening. Wonderful arts and crafts all locally made and at a reasonable price! The hotel is located on the peninsula about a 15 minute walk to "los dedos" (the fingers). To the east the hotel is just 2 blocks from the water and an easy 5 minute stroll to the centre of town on Golero. One good point to note is the laundromat is just 5 minutes walk towards "la brava" and for a full load of washing, whites and colours, it was laundered, folded and in bag in the same day - USD40. Loved my stay and would highly recommend it!!!

“Excellent. Feeling at home”

Great place to be in Punta del Este. Location is unbeatable. It's near the beach, close to the bars and great shopping options. Best thing about HSM are the crew members. They are all kind and willing to help. I had a lot of fun with them and they've been wonderful at all times: Managers, Reception… more

Great place to be in Punta del Este. Location is unbeatable. It's near the beach, close to the bars and great shopping options. Best thing about HSM are the crew members. They are all kind and willing to help. I had a lot of fun with them and they've been wonderful at all times: Managers, Receptionist, cleaning ladies, waitresses and the owner. Rooms are comfy, clean and very complete. Once you come here: you'll want to come back.

“Best place to stay”

I really recommend this hotel. I had been there for five days and everything was perfect. Staff were kind and helpful. View from my room was really great and I enjoyed watching sunset. It was also clean and cosy.

“Dated hotel in good condition”

If this hotel was anywhere else, it would be overpriced. But, for Punta Del Este, it's a good priced hotel. It looks like nothing has changed since 1950, but they keep it nice. If this hotel was anywhere else, it would be overpriced. But, for Punta Del Este, it's a good priced hotel. It looks like nothing has changed since 1950, but they keep it nice. The location is great if you are staying on the peninsula. There is also a ocean-view rooftop patio. The breakfast was alright. The staff were friendly. My only suggestions for it to be a better stay are better cable TV because it is grainy and that the bathroom door opens into the room instead of into the bathroom because you can't manoeuvre.
