My boyfriend and I stayed at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa from Friday through Monday on a somewhat impromptu trip we planned only four days in advance, and we had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful, quiet, and very clean, with plenty of space to relax. Even though we booked last minute, we were still able to get into several classes and activities, including a few we had been waitlisted for. Our room was also very nice and spotless. What truly stood out was the amazing staff. Kathleen at the front desk kindly helped check my boyfriend in early when my flight was delayed by five hours and the reservation was under my name. We also had a fantastic meal at Terras with Yolanda (highly recommend the Eggplant) and had a blast doing the high ropes course with Abe. The biggest thank you goes to Yessica in housekeeping. On the morning of checkout I unknowingly lost a one-carat diamond earring that even though was insured, I was devastated to have lost. I didn’t realize it wasn’t in my ear until I was almost at the airport and promptly called the resort. Yessica immediately organized a search, and although it wasn’t in our bathroom as I originally thought, her team eventually located it elsewhere on the property near the restaurant/lobby. I am incredibly grateful to Yessica and the CIVANA team for going above and beyond to return something so meaningful. I will absolutely recommend this resort to everyone I know. You will arrived stressed and overstimulated and leave with a sense of calm, connection and with a restored faith in humanity.

I recently visited CIVANA Wellness Resort as a solo traveler for my very first wellness retreat, and it truly exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, every single person I encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The service across the entire resort was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious — nourishing, thoughtfully prepared, and something I genuinely looked forward to each day. The activities and classes were top-notch, with knowledgeable instructors who created such a comfortable and encouraging environment. As someone traveling solo and new to the wellness retreat experience, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. I would highly, highly recommend this resort — especially if it’s your first retreat or you’re considering traveling on your own. It feels incredibly safe, supportive, and easy to navigate. The rooms are modern and beautifully minimalistic — calm, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The resort itself feels spacious without being overwhelming. There are so many walking paths and quiet spaces where you can relax, unwind, and simply do nothing — which felt like such a luxury. I also loved the small but meaningful touches, like fruit-infused water stations throughout the property and complimentary sunscreen available poolside (no need to pack your own!). Those details really elevate the experience. Overall, it was an incredible stay and such a refreshing opportunity to reset and recharge. I can’t wait to return.

“A Mixed Experience”

My college bestie and I meet once a year for a spa vacation, and this trip found us at Civana. Sadly, Terri at check-in set the tone for the entire trip with her condescending attitude. We booked using the Black Friday sale, so that helped with the sting of the price. We also took advantage of the meal plan. Room: Great view of the lovely property. However, our rooms did not have air conditioning. Instead of just saying there was an issue, they kept sending up technicians. Our rooms had a Dyson fan which was okay, but at $1K a night, this is ridiculous. My room never got below 73 degrees. Food: Meh-- Because food was included, I found myself ordering more hoping that I would find something I liked. I would suggest breakfast in the Terras dining room, lunch at Seed (the sunflower salad was FANTASTIC) and dinner back at Terras. We liked the tomato and mozzarella appetizer so much that after my friend left, I ordered another one for dinner, hoping that I could have a half portion. That was not an option. I asked if I could have the swordfish without the sides and was told that that was also not an option. This leads me to believe that the food is truly not prepared and cooked on site--maybe it's more of a microwave situation. Disappointment with the food was a constant theme from others we met during our stay. Now for the OUTSTANDING: I was VERY impressed with my spa treatments. I had the Watsu (water therapy) with Alden which was FANTASTIC. I would highly recommend this treatment. The Deep Tissue Massage with Teri which was great, and the Thai Table Massage with Taylor was AMAZING!! I would do each of these treatments again with each person. My only suggestion would be to offer longer sessions because an extra 30 minutes with each person would have been blissful. I was also impressed with the classes that I took. Although the class options were quite limited, I enjoyed my yoga classes and would recommend the myofascial release class and the buns class. Would I return? Maybe-- I really enjoyed the spa and the classes. I do think that if you are staying at the resort that access to the spa should be allowed, even if you are not receiving a treatment, but I guess the resort is big and the spa is smaller. My all-time favorite spa is Lake Austin Spa Resort, but I am glad that I tried this for a comparison.
