“Great access to South Rim”

Cabins provided immediate access to the south rim trail and amazing views. Cute cabin with queen bed - not a luxury mattress but okay. Had issue with non-working baseboard heater which made first night uncomfortable due to below 30 temps. Staff not able to fix until next day.

We loved the access to the trails, the option to eat steps away from our room, the ability to catch the shuttle at the doorstep, really friendly staff. What we didn't like was the inability to actually sleep as our room was next to the exit, and all doors needed to be slammed or you needed to aggressively turn the door handles to get them to function properly. This sounds silly but the whole night (for two nights) was filled with doors opening and slamming shut, walls shook in our room from the exits, and the walls are PAPER thin. You can hear everything next door, and outside, so when the two busses filled with school children arrived at 5am, and stood directly outside, we heard it all. SO if you are hoping for a ton of convenience at a great rate, awesome, if you were hoping to get a full night of sleep, and that feels important to you, consider ear plugs.

I'd booked for one night but eventually managed to book a second night a few months before (repeatedly tried for a rim or partial rim view) for the trip of a lifetime and birthday treat (coming from the UK at the end of several weeks travelling). We were SO disappointed with our cabin, whilst we know they're historic and not to modern standards I do feel some should be offered at a lower rate. They are not good value for money if you get the cabin we had. Some cabins for 2 people are beautifully situated away from traffic and pedestrians amongst trees, other like ours are by the main road with service vehicles and pedestrians starting around 5am. And not forgetting the housekeeping cupboard opposite our front door - they start work at 8am and then have guests coming to ask for extra towels etc (and of course we were up and about but it just further adds to the noise). There are some lovely stand alone cabins, but having connecting doors to the next room (same cabin building) where you can hear every conversation and the toilet flushing in the night sounds like its in your room does not fit the description of a cabin (or indeed the price). The whole structure has no sound insulation. And finally! A room with nowhere to sit - look at the lovely photos and you see armchairs, not a padded bench at the end of the bed. And yes I did mention it all on check out - desk clerk said he'd get the manager out to discuss with me, who'd conveniently just taken a break. I was assured any reviews were read, by which I naively assumed meant I'd get a reply, I didn't. Varied experiences at the restaurants as well suggest they don't care as they have enough booking and little competition. A marked contrast with a cabin at the View in Monument Valley - again old/ dated but was AMAZING.
