We visited Monument Valley April 19,2026 and stayed at "The View" hotel on the first floor. This hotel is aptly named---as EVERY room, including the dining room -- has a fabulous view of the valley and the famous mittens. Sunset was great from our room, but sunrise was really dramatic as the sun rose behind the rock formations. We also had a nice porch so could go outside. Breakfast is included with the room and is a fairly standard buffet--eggs, potatoes, bacon, fruit, etc. but is well presented. We ate supper at the dining room. We were offered some local favorites and the stew I had was excellent. Service was very good as well. The trading post next door exhibited excellent, top quality native american art--- which I really enjoyed . You can also visit a really nice museum and gallery down the street at Goulding's Trading Post.

“Beautiful views lousy food.”

Beautiful hotel with great views from most of the rooms. The vistas are spectacular, large patios and rooms make this a special place to stay. However food at the hotel is subpar. Beautiful hotel with great views from most of the rooms. The vistas are spectacular, large patios and rooms make this a special place to stay. However food at the hotel is subpar. The dinner is extremely limited, mostly pub food a very inequality. Breakfast are a buffet with polyester eggs, no fresh fruit, dry taste tasteless little cupcakes, and bagels plus breads. Sadly for what you pay for a room, you were at the mercy of this hotel for food unless you bring your own or go to Gouldings.

“A Full sized bed is not a Queen”

The room was clean and included a mini fridge and coffee maker. The restaurant was okay, no alcohol served on the property. The trading post was nice, but overpriced when compared to Cameron Trading Post. My biggest complaint is that we reserved a room without a view, which was fine. But the room was advertised as a Standard Queen—No View, i.e. one bed instead of two. The bed was not a queen, but rather a full sized bed for two of us. I went to the front desk immediately after arriving in our room and asked to check the reservation because the room was not as stated. She told me that we could not be placed in another room because the hotel was fully booked, so I asked for a discount. She told me to return in the morning and speak to the manager. I returned to the front desk the next morning and was told that the manager was not there, and that I could not get a discount because I had already paid. The room was less expensive than the rooms with a view, but we were okay with no view, since we got the views we wanted at sunset, sunrise, and on our tour. But beware when booking a Standard Queen room. I have only placed a photo of the bed here because TripAdvisor won’t upload screenshots of my reservation and the room description on the website.
