I've stayed here a few times in the past 5 years when traveling to Tucson for business. Cons: The furniture in the rooms is getting a bit rundown, dressers scratched, etc. The bathrooms are also dated. They couldn't get the printer to work in the business center, but I could email the stuff to the desk for them to print out. Pros: The front desk staff is wonderful and will do anything to help you! Ivy at breakfast is a delightful young woman. Breakfast is outstanding - waffles, egg bites, etc. and there were like 15 toppings for the oatmeal and yogurt, never saw such a nice set up! The pool is small, but clean and refreshing. The mountain view from the pool is beautiful. Good snack and beverage selection in the pantry and the coffee is in the lobby and hot 24/7. There are two great restaurants right next to the hotel - Chinese and Mexican. I ate at both and they were fantastic! (PS You can change the thermostat - you just push in the up or down arrow and hold it)

Fairfield inn & suites Oro Valley Arizona  It's in one of the most beautiful areas of Tucson. It's conveniently located from the Highway. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service  staff who are working.   I was greeted at the front desk by a young person who was so very positive and did their best to make sure I felt welcomed and recognized my membership status. The manager came out and talked to me as well.  I also was given a special elite status parking space. It's a newer hotel and everything is in tiptop shape.  There are several nearby chain type restaurants that can accommodate a family and some have bars so if you're a single person you can sit and eat. Many have  reasonable good tasting take out. Of course the nearby city of Tucson has lots of really good individually and family-owned restaurants with different types of food. It's also very close to Catalina state park, which is a favorite bird watching area for me. It also has a lot of cultural areas that i'm interested in. I'm also a member of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. It's about forty five minutes away which is not that far. Distances are all relative in the West.But for me I really like this hotel in its location.  They also have  a hot breakfast. It was typical fare and was hot and plentiful. They had the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fresh fruit, juice, muffins, bagels and stuff like that.  I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, it's an old school way of thinking and I hope people consider adopting it in these times. The manager was always ready with a suggestion a local restaurant for a reasonable good tasting take out or a bar with  a nice sit down area. The rooms were clean and well appointed as well as modern and quiet. I will stay there again this winterin Marchand April.  It's fairly close some good breakfast places should you not want to eat breakfast at the hotel. When I registered I had to do so online because I was turning in mileage but after I registered i called directly to the hotel by phone to discuss the type of room I wanted. I find I get better results with the type of room I want.

I will start with the positives first. The staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast was good, with a variety of foods and decent quality. The room was clean. Coffee is available all day. As others mentioned this property really needs some updating. Our room was very dated. The furniture was scratched, finishes were coming off the veneer, ripped covering on the stool to hold your luggage, the tub was bottom was discolored and the chrome wasn’t shiny. The mattress wasn’t very thick, nor plush (not the comfy Marriott bed). The AC was very noisy. The pool is tiny, and not too inviting. It was an ok stay if you are on a budget and not looking for anything fancy.
