I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in October 2013. My mom and I have been IHG members in 2018. I believe if I am not mistaken, we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tucson Mall for a long time, and I have to say that this is truly our favorite “to-go” place to stay at. My mom and I have known Xavier Macias & staff for a very long time. They truly are like family to us and really made our stay an unforgettable one. The staff definitely goes above and beyond and whatever we need during our stay they are always “on it” right away. The location is really easy to get to, and we’ve never had any problems at all. We’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere since it is very comfortable whenever we stay here a lot. Every time we stay here a lot, this definitely makes us feel like we are at home. We seriously just loved staying here a lot! We always love getting Room 206 because we just love staying in that room since it is spacious and we totally love the kitchenettes as well. I will always never forget when my mom and I stayed for two days while I was undergoing radioactive iodine therapy; we definitely took advantage of the kitchenettes. If that room is not available or out of order, we totally understand that Room 208 is also good too. The “value” of this hotel is amazing, because I always liked getting my reservations in advance. If anyone is staying here, I would suggest making your reservations in advance since sometimes groups or sports teams stay here occasionally, chances are you will have no problem at all. I wish I had given “Cleanliness” 10,000 stars since the housekeepers show “outstanding” cleanliness. A special shout-out to Carolina Cuestas, Christina Villalobos, and the housekeeping team going above and beyond; they are the true heroes of hospitality, and they are hard-working people. Laura from the breakfast attendant is super nice and amazing! Laura takes pride in what she does, and my mom and I just love her dearly! I want to point out that whenever we stay in Room 206, we sometimes hear noise on the 3rd floor, I am not sure what it is or who is doing that, but this has never interfered with our stay. I have been in the hospitality industry for about 5 years going on 6 years and I believe it would be nice if all hotels had quiet hours. I am not sure if the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tucson Mall has quiet hours, but maybe this is something that they can look into when they do the renovations coming soon. Based on my previous paragraph, the service here is amazing and unforgettable, I would also like to point out something really cool what had happened: On Monday, April 6th (Easter Monday) when my mom and I stayed here we noticed there were 4 fresh water bottles in the room since we are IHG reward members we had thought that this was a nice gesture of what they do. I had to go down to the lobby, and the one that had put water bottles in the room was the Front Desk Agent, Ricky Cardenas. When I went back up to the room, I had told my mom that it was Ricky that left the water bottles in the rooms and both of us had said, “Wow, that was pretty cool of what he did.” Ricky even gave me snacks at check-in, which was pretty cool. My mom and I we always love staying at really nice hotels and I and my mom too, we just love how they give out snacks and water bottles to guests, even the ones that are long-term guests. We just couldn’t thank Ricky enough for just providing exceptional service, especially leaving fresh water bottles. Ricky is amazing and he definitely does provide exceptional customer service. Thank you, Ricky for providing great customer service! We loved the amenities here at the hotel! My mom and I are always looking forward to staying here longer! We can't wait to come back on Friday and beyond! Thank you, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tucson Mall for providing exceptional service and for you all taking care of my mom and I when we are here for my doctor appointments! You all made our day(s) and stay(s) a much more experience! We will absolutely recommend this to all of our friends and family to come and stay with you all.

“2025 Year In Review”

My mom and I always love and enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express. We both have been IHG members since 2018 and I got to say that this hotel is by far our favorite place to stay at also known as our “to-go” place. The hotel is extremely amazing; the parking lot is great and is well-kept for guests that stay here frequently or long-term. The staff is extremely amazing; they are friendly, kind, patient, understanding, and they go above and beyond by making your stay a more enjoyable one. The staff really pays attention to your needs and always are willing to help anyway that they can. Xavier Macias (GM) has a GREAT team, and they are AMAZING! The best thing about this hotel is that if you like a room(s) that you have stayed in for a long time then you can always tell the front desk and they can “lock” it in right away on their system, i.e.: my mom and I we love to stay in Room 206, if 206 is unavailable then 208 is also a good one too. We always love the room since it is spacious, and we absolutely do feel that we are living in our house. The LG Flat Screen TVs in the rooms are nice. I know that I have mentioned in some of my reviews and I am sure that guests have noticed too, the carpets in the hallways are getting old and they do need a refresh. My mom and I understand that this hotel is due for renovation next year. I would like to also point out once they do the renovations, I am not sure if the LG Flat-Screen TV’s will be there or if they are going to get new TVs for the guestrooms, a “suggestion” that I would like to point out is that I would like to see where guests can do the express check-out and also stream their phones onto the TV such as Chromecast. I have seen some Holiday Inn Express’s in the valley whereas guests can see their name on the TV, i.e.: “Welcome, Patrick thank you for being a Silver IHG reward member.” I am sure that this Holiday Inn Express in Tucson will do the same. We are looking forward to seeing the final touches. The breakfast crew in the mornings work their butts off, and they too treat my mom and I like family. My mom and I would like to give a shout-out to Laura. She not only does an amazing job every day preparing breakfast and making the breakfast area look nice and clean, but my mom and I have seen her putting in the effort by making the breakfast area a spotless clean. She deserves a RAISE or a promotion to a Lead Breakfast Attendant. In the past whenever my mom and I stayed here the housekeeping team is wonderful and they do take great pride in their work such as attention to detail. My mom and I would like to give a shout-out to Carolina (Lead Housekeeping Manager) and the wonderful, amazing Christina (Housekeeping Supervisor) for being such superstars. Christina is such an amazing, kind-hearted soul, and we do feel that she is a great asset to the team. We do hope that Christina stays there for a very long time; she is extraordinary and amazing to work with. Whenever my mom and I always go down to have breakfast, we always see Christina. She is VERY friendly, polite, always asks my mom and I how my appointments have been at the Cancer Center and that if we ever need anything that we can always let her know and that she is on it right away. She is very professional and very understanding. She takes great pride in her work, and her leadership is great! Thank you, Christina, for your service, kindness, and remarkable care. Every time I do a review for this hotel on Medallia, I know one of the questions it says is “Cleanliness” I know that I always give them 5 stars, which is 10 stars, but this stay I do give them for cleanliness is 9.5 out of 10 stars. I’d like to point this out to a lot of travelers that stay at hotels just like my family and I am to please check the toilet. My mom was taking a shower as I was watching TV, if you look closely the first picture looks good, no problem but the second picture looks dirty as a matter of fact it is poop. My mom and I were so gross, in fact we did not dare to clean it up. We do understand that mistakes do happen, but the housekeepers should pay attention to detail every time they clean room(s) and public areas. Friday night, I took pictures of the toilet, and I went down to show them to the front desk. I showed them to Daniel, and he was very apologetic. He went out of his way by going up to our room and by cleaning and disinfecting the toilet. As my mom and I were watching TV, I saw Daniel was done, I went into the bathroom, and it looked so much better. I have been in the hospitality industry for five years and I do pay attention to details as I am cleaning the lobby restrooms or cleaning the lobby at my current job. Thank you, Daniel, for your kindness, exceptional care, and for disinfecting the toilet! We really appreciate you! Another staff member, my mom and I would like to give a special shout-out to Xavier Macias (GM). As we were getting on the road back to Mesa, I received a phone call from Xavier, my mom and I we were thinking that we had left something in the room and that we needed to go back but no he called to follow-up on this issue in regards to the front desk agent Daniel had told Xavier that the toilet was being dirty. He was very apologetic and understanding. He is going to work with the housekeeping manager Carolina that way this wouldn’t happen again. My mom and I enjoy getting to know Xavier, what we really love is that he went above and beyond to “comp” our next stay which is amazing! Xavier is the greatest manager my mom and I have ever seen. He takes amazing pride in his work and takes good care of his guests. My mom and I really hope, and we would love to see Xavier Macias getting manager of the year because he deserves it! He is amazing and good to work with. He has a lot of leadership skills and tremendous customer service. Xavier, On behalf of my mom and I would like to say thank you so much for taking the time out on your day off yesterday for you giving me a call to follow up on this issue on the dirty toilet. We really appreciate your professionalism! In conclusion, my mom and I we can’t thank you guys enough for EVERYTHING you have done for us every time we stay here for my doctor’s appointments. We really are die-hard Holiday Inn Express fans, IHG members, and y’all have given us loyalty, and that means a lot! So glad and thankful that you guys are like family to us! We wanted to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you all a very blessed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We are so thankful for each and every one of you! We are so excited and looking forward to our next stay in 2026 and beyond. My mom and I will absolutely come back and stay here longer! “Brought the whole family to the Holiday Inn Express Tucson Mall for a funeral in the passing of my cousin.”

My mom and I bought my two grandparents who are 92, (almost) to be 90 years old next month, my two aunts, 1 older brother, 1 sister-in-law, and 2 nephews to Tucson to attend a funeral for the passing of my cousin, my grandpa's first cousin who had passed away in August 2025 due to illness. We wanted to stay right near the church of where the services are going to be but this time since my mom and I love staying here a lot, staff is always incredible and the service is beyond wonderful for my doctor's appointments we wanted to bring my entire family to the Holiday Inn Express Tucson Mall. When I called to make a reservation to reserved three rooms for my whole family, I had a little run-in with the “new” front desk agent his name is Daniel. I gave him the information, i.e.: dates, rooms, nights, and adults. He gave me the price which was about $223. I did mention to him that my family and I we are good friends with Xavier Macias (General Manager) and how my mom and I do stay here a lot for doctor’s appointments and that you guys are able to provide us with a discount. Daniel did say, “Okay, I will contact Ricky and see what we can do.” 10 minutes after, I called back and Daniel was back on the phone and he did say, “It was a perfect timing because I talked to Ricky and we are going to go ahead and give you the discount.” and I said, “Okay, that’s great!” I know that $223 is a lot for my family and I but I did notice over the phone that Daniel was a little bit of a “jerk” and Ricky knew exactly of what had happened when I spoke with Daniel. All this that had happened did not interfere with our stay, because my mom and I understand that Daniel was new at the front desk. Today, Monday September 8, 2025, I did receive a call back from Xavier following up on what had happened, and he is going to talked to Daniel. We also understand that mistakes do happen. Xavier, I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to reach out to me on my cell phone # to follow-up, for your leadership, and for you also understanding my concerns. My mom and I we really appreciate it! My family and I we did not want to pay a lot of $ for three rooms but we absolutely do appreciate you accommodating my family and I since it was a “big” family that was coming in from Douglas, Arizona, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Mesa, AZ for a funeral for my cousin. My family and I really enjoyed our stay very much! Ricky, who was such an amazing front desk person, always so friendly & kind he was able to put my whole family and I on the 1st floor (ground floor) that we can be closer together. We did not know that the rooms do not have adjoining rooms that’s no problem at all, but we were across the hallway. Ricky did make my family, and I feel so welcomed! At first, we were going to be in the 140 hallways but that was far for my grandma to walk, so we were in Rooms 130 (Handicap), 133, and 135 (ALL) two beds which was great! Thank you, Ricky for always an amazing unforgettable stay and for accommodating my family and I that way we can be closer together. The rooms were great and spacious! The LG Flat-Screen TV was great! Hopefully there will be more channels soon that way we wouldn’t see the “No Signal” message on the TV. We loved the towels! My mom and I as well as my family we got an excellent good night’s sleep. The beds were amazing, and we were VERY comfortable. My family and I we really enjoyed breakfast! Laura got the opportunity to meet my two wonderful nephews, and she really enjoyed them, and they were very cute & adorable. Laura was super sweet, kind, and friendly. Every time, whenever my mom and I we stay here a lot for my appointments we always enjoy visiting with Laura. Laura truly goes above & beyond for us and for every guest(s) that stay here. She is a true “gem” of being breakfast attendant every morning. Please definitely give her a HUGE raise! Laura is amazing & the staff at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tucson Mall is blessed to have her on the team. My mom and I we know that Laura will stay there for a long time, because she really deserves it! Please keep doing an amazing job making it look nice, clean and well-stocked, Laura! My mom and I we are honored to get to know you, Xavier, and the staff. We were also happy that Ricky gave us a late check-out for my family and I since we came back from a funeral and so we wanted to have time to get dressed and check-out. His customer service is one for the books and is marvelous! Thank you, Ricky! My family and I we appreciate you. Staff is so wonderful, kind, outstanding, and amazing! They remember our names very well! Xavier Macias’s staff treats my mom and I family like we are also a part of their family as well. My mom and I are looking forward to our stay in October, November, December 2025 and beyond. My family and I truly recommend this hotel to all our family and friends who need a place to stay. Staff is beyond amazing! They will accommodate your special requests or needs! They will truly go above and beyond to make your stay feel more enjoyable and comfortable.
