We loved everything about this hotel. From personal check in onwards, we were treated to great friendly service and made to feel welcome. The room was beautiful with real furniture and great view of the ocean. The breakfast was ordered the night before for a specific time slot which worked well with our early travel schedule. We enjoyed the fresh eggs, a great improvement over the reconstituted ones we had at larger breakfast included hotel chains. The bed was very comfortable, and everything well maintained. The amenities were great including the coffee maker and the cookies provided. We strongly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling through the area. We just wish we could have stayed longer.

We love our room, this is the third time for us staying in that room. Love the sounds of the waves… so smoothing for the soul. Disappointed in the heavy egg breakfast menu. We do not eat eggs. We love our room, this is the third time for us staying in that room. Love the sounds of the waves… so smoothing for the soul. Disappointed in the heavy egg breakfast menu. We do not eat eggs. Many people are fighting cholesterol issues or personal choice not to eat eggs. The management was helpful and sent us up to their other property for breakfast… that helped. In the future I hope that the very unhealthy 6 choices of eggs can offer several healthy vegetarian options. Very wonderful staff that are willing to work to provide a pleasant stay. All of this makes Blue Dolphin our choice in Cambria. Vonnie Stoia

“excellent service and breakfast”

During our stay at Blue Dolphin Inn we celebrated our 63rd anniversary. Staff, room and service were all excellent as was our dinner at the near by Sea Chest Restaurant.

We were looking for a place to break up the journey from San Jose to Palm Springs and felt that Cambria was a reasonable place to stop overnight. There are a number of Inns like this in the ocean front area of the town and I could not see too much difference between them all. I booked this via Expedia for $230 B&B, which I though was reasonable given the location. The car park and entrance are to the rear of the hotel. We arrived around 4.30pm and were met in reception by a very helpful man. He told us all about the hotel, our room, the set up for breakfast and the restaurants in the area. We had to order breakfast that evening, which was a bit odd. It was a selection of egg centric wraps brought to your room as your preferred time. This is because there is no designated dining area. The hotel is pretty small, but you could see from outside that there were a couple of rooms that had their own patios facing the ocean. We were in the room about 2 doors up from reception, 205. It is a reasonable size with a homely feel, and a snug bathroom en-suite. It had nice shutters on the window. We overlooked the side entrance, but you could see the ocean via the driveway. This was the coldest place we visited on our trip, which is probably why the room has no air con. Luckily it wasn't that warm, so we didn't need it. The main problem that we had was the smell of breakfast being cooked permeating the room from 7am. It was so strong that when our breakfast came, we really didn't feel like eating it. As it goes, I would have preferred simple cold pastries instead of the tortilla wraps.
