We were lucky enough to find availability at this fabulous venue very last minute. Located on the edge of downtown, and only blocks from the beach, it is well situated and a fabulous value for the well healed community of Carmel by the Sea. To start with, it has great curb appeal with a Historic old French vibe and a wide variety of available spaces— rooms of all sizes, plus small cabins. The warm and inviting staff, headed by the fabulous Cecile, couldn’t have been more friendly and gracious. Our room was large with an incredibly comfortable king size bed, and a newly refurbished bathroom with all the amenities we could want. Our accommodations were immaculate, and extremely pleasing to the eye. There was a beautiful pool on premises, which, unfortunately, due to the ambient temperature, we didn’t test out, but we made good use of the included more-than -ample continental breakfast. Even more desirable, was that parking was included in the nights stay something that is rarely found in this affluent community. All of these offerings were included in the extremely attractive bottom line, which was a fraction of cost at several of the places in the area. I highly recommend.

Great Location, Clean and Very Charming and Quaint Inn. Staff was very welcoming and complementary breakfast was acceptable. The room and furnishings we nice and the bed and bedding comfortable. The shower and bathroom were pretty big and hot water was quick and plentiful. There is small.geated pool we saw several.guest taking advantage of. We enjoyed the shops and art galleries and places to eat. Hint... the grocery and deli at the top of the hill behind the small park had lunch specials that were affordable fresh and delicious. Scenic road at the base of hill running along the homes and beaches was a nice 3 mile round trip.walk along the ocean and beach. Point Lobos State Park and the old mission a must do when in the area

“Quaint, Comfortable, Colourful & Quintessentially Carmel”

We had visited Carmel while on previous holidays in California, but only for a few hours each time, while enroute along the Pacific Coast Highway. This year, we decided to stay overnight and chose to book a Deluxe Fireplace Room at the Normandy Inn. We got a great rate with Booking.com (£190). On arriving at the hotel, it presents as a quaint series of inter-connected 2-storey buildings, which perfectly blend with the unique ambience of historic Carmel. We parked at a drop-off spot on the street outside Reception and were given a really warm welcome, with a suggestion that we park for free anywhere on the street outside (the drop-off spot being only a 20 min waiting area), or in the Hotel's small carpark. We walked through a charming flower-filled Courtyard (one of many at the property) to our ground floor room. On entering we had a lovely king-size bed, two armchairs, a side table, a chaise-longue and of course a fireplace with easy to light 'firebricks' and some complimentary matches. We lit the fire at night which was so cosy. There was a lovely dressing room, with vanity unit, stool, well-lit mirror, wardrobe space and coffee maker. Another door led to our ensuite shower room, with WC and basin. Exploring this charming hotel provides a delight, discovering more little courtyards, flowers, ornamental nooks and crannies and a small swimming pool. The complimentary breakfast comprised toast, fruit, yoghurts, eggs, breads, croissants, preserves, hot drinks and juices. Everything you might wish to see in Carmel is on your doorstep - with beautiful galleries, gift stores, restaurants and bars. The beach is a 5 minute walk down the street. We had reserved a table for dinner at the nearby 'La Bicyclette restaurant' (a favourite of the many celebrities with homes in Carmel) - and would recommend eating there - although you may need to make a reservation a month or so in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Normandy Inn - a quintessentially unique property, which is full of character and fits wonderfully into this beautiful town.

This was our first time at Normandy Inn. Fantastic location close to Carmel Beach, Scenic Rd and the shops on Ocean Ave. Nice continental breakfast with trays to bring back to your room The room we booked was a bit of a strange configuration, but we knew that ahead of time. Beds were very comfortable. The only issue we had was the carpet in the room. It was very old, threadbare and looked dirty. Vacuuming won’t help this rug; it needs to be pulled up and replaced.
