Having stayed at The Clement on a previous road trip, I again chose this hotel for a 2 night stay over travelling from San Francisco to San Diego via Palmdale. This hotel exudes quality, from location and the building itself to the staff who are employed there. Arrival and check-in are a breeze, and the valet parking though costly is nevertheless a hassle free option to the public parking alternative, particularly in peak and holiday seasons. Cars are recovered and waiting in under 15mins by a professional team of drivers, and keys are always handed over with a smile. Our reception was handled by Wendy, who was professional and courteous throughout, indeed my Diamond Ambassador status was never in question and we were afforded the upgrades requested at the time of booking. Our room was an ocean view fireplace with ‘Juliet’ balcony, and provided majestic views of the morning sunrise over the bay…. many thanks!! Breakfast was excellent (selected at check-in) and the bar area overlooking the bay was exquisite with competitively priced drinks and snacks, especially given the location. As said, this establishment prides itself on customer satisfaction, and though I did encounter an issue (which I prefer not to disclose), the hotel recognized my concerns and fully compensated me for my inconvenience in this regard. Again, I extend my thanks to Wendy and the management in this regard. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monterey or driving Big Sur, and conclude by saying it is not only how a hotel functions on a daily basis, but how it responds to correcting errors and placing the guest first at all times. “A 4.5 circles experience!”

We had a very nice 4 night stay at this hotel. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the towels nice and thick. The shower was quite small but worked for us. We had a very nice 4 night stay at this hotel. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the towels nice and thick. The shower was quite small but worked for us. The decor of the room was very bland and dated, with only one framed photograph on the walls. The lobby was very attractive with a gas fireplace and relaxing places to sit. The breakfast that was included in our room rate was excellent. There was a very large selection, and everything we tried was delicious. It was very pleasant to be right on the water for breakfast. The staff throughout the hotel was extremely kind and helpful. Valet parking was $45 per day which is probably standard for a very busy area like Cannery Row. I would give this hotel 4.5 circles if I could. The half circle off is for the room itself, which was really more like a dated 3 star hotel.
