The Sandman is a true testament of what the modern motor inn experience can be like. Being a relatively short drive from some of Santa Rosa's better restaurants and attractions, it makes itself fairly accessible for the typical road tripper. The property still has a fairly new coat of paint, which makes it on par with some of the more modern decor you may find in other hotels both inside and out, with the small but functional gym room, laundromat and lobby being clean and well-kempt to the eyes. As for the room, it was neat and tidy, and with a Summery Desert motif that felt welcoming and functional, and heck, even fairly quiet for being near the 101. And if you're looking to gather some outdoor time, well, the Sandman has it covered with their pool and bar area. The hot tub may need some refinishing, as well as the outdoor showerhead, but both still did the job. They even have a little park area for your furry friends, a bocce ball court, and even a dome for yoga, if you're into those sorts of things. The morning breakfast was a real treat that rivals some of the major chains with fresh coffee and cold drinks, a hot breakfast bar and even a waffle station, which I am always a fan of. Being seated along the pool during the Sonoma County sunrise with breakfast really makes your morning. While I can say that you get what you pay for with The Sandman, it lends itself to providing a decent and comfortable motel experience if you're opting instead of a hotel or resort, with good, helpful service to boot. Mr. Sandman, can indeed bring you a dream, and hope it continues to do so for future travelers. 🌙 ✨️

Nice stay, but initially there were issues. This looks like a best western that has been redone to look more trendy, with a Palm Springs vibe. CUte idea. When I booked a standard room, the pics showed a small kitchenette in the pics of the room. When checking in, I was told my room did not have this, and it would be $20 more a night- which I agreed to. Then I went to room 116; the covered up pet smell was OVERWHELMING. I opened the room up for 15 minutes but it didn’t help. I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it for 3 days. Also the furniture in the room was different- no desk, the chairs were basically outdoor metal chairs- very ugly and not looking comfortable. Went back to front desk and asked for another room and was put a couple of doors down- this room smelled much better and looked more like advertised pictures. I didn’t get a chance to try breakfast, but the small workout room was nice and the pool/bar area was cute and looked like a good time in the summer. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom nice and clean- towels fair/good. I think they should really describe that standard rooms don’t have kitchenettes/the website said all room have them, and since this is a pet friendly hotel; they need to redo carpeting/pads in some of the rooms desperately. I will probably stay again if I get the chance. Front desk was super helpful/ nice.

I had a great 2 night stay at the Sandman. I liked that there was complimentary breakfast. I also appreciated that my room got upgraded to a king from a queen. Although, it smelled strongly of old cigarettes (more than likely from the previous stay), but a nice spray of febreeze would've helped alo… more

I had a great 2 night stay at the Sandman. I liked that there was complimentary breakfast. I also appreciated that my room got upgraded to a king from a queen. Although, it smelled strongly of old cigarettes (more than likely from the previous stay), but a nice spray of febreeze would've helped alot, or for the room to be aired out prior. However, the bed was a huge cloud! The softest bed i have ever slept on. The room itself was cute, i liked that there was an actual tea pot. It was also pretty quiet, at least inside the room. I did get locked out of my room twice. the second time, I had asked the cleaning lady ( she was right next door) she looked slightly irritated, but that might just be a resting mexican face lol. Although, i would've liked to be asked how my stay was in person when I checked out, but that is probably just a personal hospitality preference for me. I definitely would stay again. You can't beat the price.
