“Comfort stay within the park”

We visited Curry Village for Thanksgiving in 2024. We originally booked a heated tent cabin but, seeing the rain in the forecast, we requested an upgrade to one of the hard-sided wooden cabins with a private bath. The cabin was rustic but worth the extra cost. As a family of three, having our own b… more

“Great Location for Hiking; Good for Kids”

I have stayed here many times, when hiking up the waterfalls or Half Dome, for which it’s ideally located. It’s basic accommodation that is far more comfortable than tent camping, and far cheaper than any of the valley hotels. If you’re in Yosemite to be physically active (hiking, climbing) and n… more

  • Yes, guests at Curry Village have highlighted that: Location, Location! You have to have an open mind and know what to expect while you stay here and you will have an amazing time. I will give you my honest review and opinion of these tent cabins in Curry Village. These are really the best, affordable ( even though they are still not cheap) and best location to stay in Yosemite if you can’t afford Wuksachi Lodge ( most of us can’t! ) The Cabins… Check in is at 4 pm, no earlier. There will be a line. They are very nice trying to get the line moving, but the process can be long and then it’s time to get all off your things out of your car and over to your cabin. If you have one of those portable wagons, bring it, or buy one for this trip, I did, and it made a HUGE difference on making this stay better. You have to bring all of your food out of your car, coolers, snacks, toiletries, and of course your clothes and personal things you need, so the wagon really helps. Parking is tough, the reviews mention this, and it’s true. I found a spot and didn’t move for my 3 night stay ( and I was there in March! The parking lot was full every day. You can hike right from the village, or take the shuttle, which makes this place super convenient just for that alone! As for necessities, I thought the beds were pretty comfortable , and i’m pretty picky about a soft bed. I did bring in my own sleeping bag, and my own pillow, but the mattress underneath was okay! There is no cooking or eating in your cabin, they are super strict about this for just reason, bears, fires, and any other curious animals. So use the bear locker or just don’t bring a lot of food here to deal with storing. I had a heated tent, I didn’t use the heat but once, but it had a continuous fan option which I loved, keeping a calm noise and circulating the air was great! It also gave you an electrical outlet which was a much needed option. I would recommend asking for a cabin in the back row ( another reason to have the wagon!) It’s quieter back there and more serene, it’s worth the walk. They really pack these cabins in, there’s a lot of them. So a lot of people, so bring your earplugs and your patience, the location and the views make this all worth it. Curry village … The staff is really nice and is trying to serve and accommodate a lot of people. Most of them are seasonal workers, so it takes time to get trained and used to the job, that’s again a need for your patience. The grocery store has a lot of great ( less expensive) food options and a microwave and hot water. There was never a line when I was there, and they are open to 9 pm. Great gift shop too. The mountaineer store had great things and clothes too! The Pizza place.. It’s really good , not cheap but really the best food option. The line is long and so is the wait for pizza. It took an hour for my order. Grab a beer ( cheaper at the pizza place than the bar) and grab a table outside and enjoy the view while you wait for your pizza. The mountain view there is amazing. Peets..They have the best coffee! So excited they are there at Curry Village. The prices are similar to other Peet’s and they have bakery items and breakfast sandwiches too. There’s usually a line but it goes fast. Hiking.. I did the meadow loop and the Mist Fall hike right from here without taking the shuttle. Super convenient. Go early on the Mist Fall hike, it’s bit tough but worth it. It will be less crowded earlier. Bring or buy a light raincoat or poncho. You will get wet! So beautiful up there, my favorite hike. I took the John Muir trail on the way down. Alot longer but scenic and less people than the way up! Summary… I really liked my stay here at Curry Village! I knew what to expect and was prepared and that made it a great stay. It’s not luxury for sure, but it’s part of the being in nature, camping experience. If you want something a bit less in price, more basic but you can cook and have a fire pit, try House Keeping Camp next door. They weren't open when I was there but I walked through and it looked like a great option with less cabins, right in the river and a bit more privacy. I would stay at Curry Village again though, and loved Yosemite!
